Empirical Ship Domain based on AIS Data

Journal of Navigation, 2013
In this paper the minimum ship domain in which a navigator feels comfortable is estimated. That is, we estimate the free space surrounding a ship into which no other ship or object should enter. This is very useful when estimating the maximum flow through a channel or a bridge span.

Neural network classifier for ship domain assessment

Mathematics and Computers in Simulation, 2000
Abstract The article presents an attempt to apply an artificial neural network in anti-collision systems at sea. Such systems determine safe trajectory for a ship by, most frequently, processing the information sourced from an automatic radar plotting aids (ARPA) type arrangement.

Time domain simulation of ship motions

1999
As a matter of fact, strip methods for seakeeping still represent a convenient method for predicting the motion of ships with arbitrary geometry and speed. Three dimensional panel codes for solving the ship motion problem in frequency domain are becoming more and mature to be used as a design tool and even nonlinearities related to the steady basis ...

Research on the Application of Ship Domain Model in Ship Collision Avoidance

SAE Technical Paper Series
<div class="section abstract"><div class="htmlview paragraph">In contemporary global commerce, swift advancements are observed within the maritime transportation sector. The frequency of seafaring voyages increases apace, from which it is discerned that navigational safety emerges as an

APPLYING POSITION PREDICTION METHOD IN SHIP DOMAIN DETERMINATION

Journal of Transportation Science and Technology, 2021
Ship domain (SD) is not a new field of automatic ship control, however, the applicability of these studies is dramatically impressive. Since the 1970s, the first studies on the ship domain have been published and received a lot of positive reflection on this idea.
