Effect of ship speed on ship’s ice resistance with ship’s vertical motions included

open access: yes, 2013
In this paper, the relations between ice resistance, shipspeed and ship motions are investigated with a numericalmodel simulating the icebreaking process with ship'smotions in 6 degrees of freedom (DOF). The coupledmotions of ship are considered in all 6 DOF togetherwith the corresponding environmental forces.

Limiting hull touch voltages in large power shore connection systems during phase-to-ground faults: A solution proposal

open access: yes, 2013
High Voltage Shore Connection (HVSC) is a technical solution to supply ships at berth in an economic way while reducing air pollution in city ports. The increased power demand of modern cruise ships may reach several tens of MVA, requiring a primary port

Fish Scales: A Multifunctional Biomaterial from Nature

open access: yesENERGY &ENVIRONMENTAL MATERIALS, EarlyView.
Fish scales demonstrate nature's solution to impact protection through overlapping multilayered architecture. This biological design combines mineralized surfaces with collagen networks to achieve both flexibility and fracture resistance. The structural principles inspire advanced protective materials and biomedical implants, where damage tolerance ...

The EU's Strategy for Sustainability: A Landmark Turn With the European Green Deal?

open access: yesEuropean Policy Analysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT While the European Green Deal (EGD) has been widely recognized as a milestone in the EU's sustainability strategy, scholars disagree on the nature of the policy change it represents. Critics highlight its limited social and environmental ambitions, despite its portrayal as a “man on the moon” moment.
