Shock capturing by the spectral viscosity method [PDF]
This paper is concerned with spectral methods for solving nonlinear one- dimensional conservation laws. An example is used to show that when shock discontinuities appear, the standard spectral approximations cannot converge to the solution satisfying the entropy condition because of the unstable Gibbs oscillations.

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.

Design of hypersonic wavecatcher intake at Mach 12 with rectangular-to-elliptical shape transition
Wavecatcher (inward-turning) intake flows, at design Mach 12, are investigated numerically, to display the effect of wall temperature on flow structures and intake performance.

Hyperosmotic stress triggers the relocation of the CFIm complex from the nucleus to the cytoplasm. This shift creates a nuclear ‘stoichiometric bottleneck’, limiting CFIm availability for mRNA processing. Consequently, specific mRNAs like NUDT21 and DICER1 undergo targeted 3′UTR shortening, demonstrating how spatial protein dynamics drive rapid ...

An investigation of the internal structure of shock profiles for shock capturing schemes [PDF]
The theoretical understanding of discrete shock transitions obtained by shock capturing schemes is very incomplete. Previous experimental studies indicate that discrete shock transitions obtained by shock capturing schemes can be modeled by continuous ...

Effect of terahertz irradiation on DNA damage repair in living cells
We investigated the effect of terahertz (THz) wave irradiation on DNA double‐strand break (DSB) repair in living cells. We found that THz irradiation enhanced DSB repair at specific frequencies, whereas heat treatment inhibited it, indicating that this effect is nonthermal and frequency‐specific.

Cell surface CD11c as a neutrophil aging marker molecule
Cell surface CD11chi neutrophils were more aged and had better phagocytic function than CD11c−/lo neutrophils. Transcriptomic analysis of CD11chi neutrophils and CD11c−/lo neutrophils in pediatric population showed that the most difference was seen in infants.

Recognition of shock-wave patterns from shock-capturing solutions
A new technique for detecting shock waves and recognising the shock patterns in compressible flow solutions computed by means of shock-capturing solvers is proposed and discussed.
