Direct measurement of the cross-shock electric potential at low plasma $β$, quasi-perpendicular bow shocks [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
We use the Cluster EFW experiment to measure the cross-shock electric field at ten low $\beta$, quasi-perpendicular supercritical bow shock crossings on March 31, 2001. The electric field data are Lorentz-tranformed to a Normal Incidence frame (NIF), in which the incoming solar wind velocity is aligned with the shock normal.

Sputtering in oblique C-type shocks [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
We present the first results for the sputtering of grain mantles and cores obtained with self-consistent multifluid hydromagnetic models of C-type shocks propagating through dusty media. The threshold shock speed for mantle sputtering is about 10 km/s and is independent of density. The mantles are completely vapourised in shocks with speeds of 20-25 km/

Clinical Trial Readiness in Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy R1 (LGMDR1): A GRASP Consortium Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Identifying functional measures that are both valid and reliable in the limb girdle muscular dystrophy (LGMD) population is critical for quantifying the level of functional impairment related to disease progression in order to establish clinical trial readiness in the context of anticipated therapeutic trials.

Relationship Between Gout Flare States and Patient‐Reported Outcomes After Allopurinol Initiation

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective Gout flares are the most important clinical feature of the disease. A hypothetical maximum flare occurrence in the preceding six months has been suggested to be no flares for a patient‐acceptable symptom state (PASS) and only one flare for low disease activity (LDA).

Priority Musculoskeletal Health Research Questions for People With Generalized Joint Hypermobility: An International Delphi Study

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, EarlyView.
Objective This study aimed to identify the top 10 international research priorities for musculoskeletal health of people with generalized joint hypermobility. Methods A three‐round Delphi method using an online survey was implemented. Three participant stakeholder groups were eligible for inclusion: (1) people with lived experience of joint ...

Effects of Dalcroze Eurhythmics Exercise Versus Multicomponent Exercise on Physical and Cognitive Function, and Falls in Older Adults: The EPHYCOS Randomized Controlled Trial

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
In this randomized clinical trial conducted among 142 community‐dwelling older adults at high risk for falls over 12 months, a Dalcroze Eurhythmics exercise intervention (once weekly, group‐based) improved a variety of physical and cognitive/executive function outcomes compared with a multicomponent exercise intervention (twice weekly, group‐ and home ...

Cosmic ray acceleration at relativistic and ultrarelativistic shock waves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2000
Using the Monte Carlo simulations we apply a method of discrete small amplitude particle momentum scattering to reproduce highly anisotropic conditions at relativistic shocks. We discusse acceleration times scales in relativistic shocks. Next, we describe newly found acceleration mechanism at ultrarelativistic shocks.

RhoA and Rac1 as Mechanotransduction Mediators in Colorectal Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
Analysing RhoA and Rac1 protein levels in Colorectal cancer (CRC) samples under mechanical strain highlights their potential as diagnostic markers. Monitoring their activity could offer valuable insights into how cancer spreads, paving the way for new approaches to better understand and diagnose colorectal cancer.
