Emerging experimental and computational methods for studying redox‐regulated structural transitions
Redox reactions can reshape proteins and alter how they behave in cells, with important consequences for health and disease. This review explores emerging experimental and computational approaches for discovering these redox‐sensitive protein switches, revealing their structural effects, and predicting their behavior, opening new opportunities to ...

GW-RAR-PINN: a novel physics-informed neural network framework for dam-break flow simulation
Physics-informed neural networks (PINNs) have shown potential for modeling open-channel flows; however, their performance deteriorates in dam-break problems due to strong nonlinearities and flow discontinuities.

Encapsulins are protein nanocompartments that play an important role in iron storage. In the Myxococcus xanthus encapsulin system, two cargo proteins called EncB and EncC contribute to iron mineralization. Here, we show that EncB and EncC generate iron‐containing minerals with distinct chemical compositions, suggesting that the composition of stored ...

Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Modelling and Forecasting Processes in Urban Environments: Particularly in the UK and China
The modelling and forecasting of the impact of extreme rainfall events in urban environments is becoming increasingly challenging as historical tools have been found to need refinement to acquire improved flood risk predictions for river and coastal ...

Long‐term hippocampal alterations and cognitive impairment in a murine model of surgical sepsis
Using a mouse model of surgical sepsis, we tested long‐term memory and analyzed the transcriptome of single cells isolated from the hippocampus. Survivor mice showed worse memory, loss of certain brain cell subpopulations, and abnormal immune cell activity—suggesting that post‐sepsis brain alterations may be linked to cognitive deficits.

Numerical Modelling of Gas-Liquid Slug Flow Regime with a Conservative Two-Fluid Model Using the Shock Capturing Method [PDF]
An approach for simulating the initiation of slugs in horizontal pipes is proposed in this research. An analogy is established between the algorithms for solving single-phase problems with discontinuity (Riemann problems) and two-phase slug flow (having ...

The MRP4 transporter exports several drugs and signaling molecules. Here, we identified key promoter elements regulating basal MRP4 expression. Using reporter assays, we defined a conserved region with essential Sp1 and contributory Ets sites, which controlled basal MRP4 expression.
