Application of shock tubes to transonic airfoil testing at high Reynolds numbers [PDF]
Performance analysis of a gas-driven shock tube shows that transonic airfoil flows with chord Reynolds numbers of the order of 100 million can be produced, with limitations being imposed by the structural integrity of the facility or the model.

Wyznaczanie Energii Dostarczonej do Elektrycznej Rurki Uderzeniowej
The present paper describes a method for determining the energy input in an electric shock tube based on the relations, obtained experimentally, between the intensity of current and the time in the discharge circuit including a shock tube or if the ...

Plasma spectroscopy of uranium and tungsten, part 1 [PDF]
Results of research on uranium and tungsten spectra are summarized. Measurements of visible line spectra and opacities were carried out on shock tube plasmas which, prior to shock compression, were mixtures of rare gases and UF6 or WF6.

Simulation of the Performance of the IISc Chemical Kinetics Shock Tube [PDF]
This report presents the results of an investigation of the performance of the Chemical Kinetics Shock tube at the Indian Institute of Science. The one-dimensional Lagrangian code L1d of Jacobs (1998) has been used to simulate the tube at several ...

Obliczanie Parametrów Przepływu w Rurze Uderzeniowej z Uwzględnieniem Jonizacji
The aim of the present paper is to determine the thermodynamic parameters of an electric shock tube. The flow is described by means of the classical shock tube. The body is described using the scheme of a multiply ionized gas introduced by A. SZANIAWSKI,

Modeling of detonation transition through the field of mixing the reacting and inert gases
The non-stationary problem of exciting a plane shock wave by gas detonation in a tube is numerically solved. The case, when the field of mixing the reacting and inert gases filling the closed tube end has finite size, is considered.

Microscopic phenomena and a modern approach to turbulence [PDF]
The use of an arc driven shock tube as a technique in the study of turbulence and evidence to support a kinetic theory of turbulence are described. Topics covered include: (1) reaction rate distortion in turbulent flow; (2) turbulent bursts in a shock ...

Blast tube design: How shape and size influence the resultant shock wave
Shock tubes and tunnels are often used in research settings as a way of producing high pressure shock waves in a smaller footprint or without the use of explosives. However, there is no standard geometric design across laboratories.
