Reverse Shocks in Short Gamma-Ray Bursts -- The case of GRB 160821B and prospects as gravitational-wave counterparts [PDF]
The shock system that produces the afterglow to GRBs consists of a forward- and a reverse-shock. For short GRBs, observational evidence for a reverse-shock has been sparse, however, the afterglow to GRB 160821B requires a reverse-shock at early times to explain the radio observations.

The design, optimization and characterization of a new bilayer painting system is presented. The underlying layer is engineered to provide exceptional thermal insulation through the synergistic effect of hollow perlite microspheres and micrometer‐sized cellulose particles. The external painting layer is designed to induce the formation of a homogeneous

Experimental investigation of unsteadiness in transonic shock boundary layer interaction [PDF]
Transonic shock wave/boundary layer interaction over a wall-mounted bump was investigated with specific focus on shock wave unsteadiness and identification of its source. A large separation bubble resulted of an interaction driven by a flow characterized

Propagation and interaction of shock waves of quasilinear equation [PDF]
We propose a new regularization method for constructing a shock wave type solution with nonsmooth front (interaction of shock waves) for quasilinear equations in the one-dimensional case.

Shock Waves in Falling Coupled Harmonic Oscillators [PDF]
Shock waves propagate in falling coupled harmonic oscillators. The bottom end of coupled harmonic oscillators does not fall downwards until a shock wave reaches the bottom end. The exact solution can be expressed by the Fourier series expansion, and an approximate solution can be expressed by the integral of the Airy function.

Drop breakage in a single‐pass through vortex‐based cavitation device: Experiments and modeling
Abstract Liquid–liquid emulsions are used in many sectors such as personal care, home care, and food products. There is an increasing need for developing compact and modular devices for producing emulsions with desired droplet size distribution (DSD). In this work, we have experimentally and computationally investigated an application of vortex‐based ...

Radio Bursts Associated with Flare and Ejecta in the 13 July 2004 Event
We investigate coronal transients associated with a GOES M6.7 class flare and a coronal mass ejection (CME) on 13 July 2004. During the rising phase of the flare, a filament eruption, loop expansion, a Moreton wave, and an ejecta were observed.

On nonlinear superposition of shock waves for the KdV-Burgers equation [PDF]
Superposition of explicit (analytic) monotone non-increasing shock waves for the KdV-Burgers equation is studied, modelled numerically and graphically presented. Initial profile chosen as a sum of two such shock waves gradually transforms into a single shock wave of a somewhat complex yet predictable structure.
