Numerical investigation on shock waves generated by flashing water jet

open access: yesAlexandria Engineering Journal, 2022
Numerical study has been conducted to investigate shock waves generated by flashing water jet. This study presents results of a numerical simulation of flash evaporation phenomena occurring when a jet of superheated water is injected through a nozzle ...

Targeting Taxanes to Castration-Resistant Prostate Cancer Cells by Nanobubbles and Extracorporeal Shock Waves. [PDF]

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2016
To target taxanes to castration-resistant prostate cancer cells, glycol-chitosan nanobubbles loaded with paclitaxel and docetaxel were constructed. The loaded nanobubbles were then combined with Extracorporeal Shock Waves, acoustic waves widely used in ...

Liquid Film Condensation behind Shock Waves on the Cold Wall of a Diaphragmless Vertical Shock Tube: An Experimental Study [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Applied Fluid Mechanics, 2022
The aim of this study was to investigate the condensation of HFC-134a vapor on a shock tube wall behind shock waves. The time-dependent thickness of the condensed liquid film was measured using an optical interference method based on multiple reflections

Physical Mechanisms and Theoretical Computation of Efficiency of Submicron Particles Agglomeration by Nonlinear Acoustic Influence

open access: yesAerosol and Air Quality Research, 2020
This study models the agglomeration of submicron particles when they are exposed to different types of ultrasonic waves, viz., sinusoidal waves and shock waves (pulses).

Shock waves from non-spherical cavitation bubbles [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We present detailed observations of the shock waves emitted at the collapse of single cavitation bubbles using simultaneous time-resolved shadowgraphy and hydrophone pressure measurements.

The microphysics of collisionless shock waves [PDF]

open access: yesReports on progress in physics. Physical Society, 2016
Collisionless shocks, that is shocks mediated by electromagnetic processes, are customary in space physics and in astrophysics. They are to be found in a great variety of objects and environments: magnetospheric and heliospheric shocks, supernova ...

Generation of spherically converging shock wave based on shock wave lens [PDF]

open access: yesMatter and Radiation at Extremes
The manipulation of intense shock waves to either attenuate or enhance damage has long been a key goal in the domain of impact dynamics. Effective methods for such manipulation, however, remain elusive owing to the wide spectrum and irreversible ...

Chiral Shock Waves

open access: yesPhysical Review Letters, 2017
We study the shock waves in relativistic chiral matter. We argue that the conventional Rankine-Hugoinot relations are modified due to the presence of chiral transport phenomena. We show that the entropy discontinuity in a weak shock wave is quadratic in the pressure discontinuity when the effect of chiral transport becomes sufficiently large.
