Short-Term Generation Scheduling

2000
This chapter discusses the short-term generation scheduling (unit commitment) which will be used in the following chapter for the coordination between long-term and short-term generation maintenance scheduling.

Scheduling Models for Short-Term Railway Traffic Optimisation

2008
In this paper we report on the results of a research project on train traffic control systems, supported by the European Commission. The results of the project include the development of new optimisation models and algorithms for traffic management, and a general architecture for train traffic control, capable of managing both fixed block and moving ...

Short‐term maintenance scheduling for utility systems

Journal of Quality in Maintenance Engineering, 2007
PurposeThe purpose of this study is to optimize short‐term maintenance scheduling of utility systems satisfying network constraints.Design/methodology/approachA mathematical programming model with network constraints is presented.FindingsThere are some cases in which the maintenance of a certain unit affects the operations of non‐maintenance units. The

Short-term scheduling of pipeless batch plants

Chemical Engineering Research and Design, 1997
Pipeless batch plants comprise a number of processing stations of varying functionality (e.g., filling, mixing, reacting and emptying stations). A number of mobile vessels are used to hold material while it is being processed at stations, or being transferred from one station to another.

Short term hydrothermal scheduling under bilateral contracts

2001 IEEE Porto Power Tech Proceedings (Cat. No.01EX502), 2002
This paper aims to analyze the optimal short term scheduling of hydrothermal systems under pool-bilateral power markets. For that, the short term hydrothermal problem is modified by the inclusion of bilateral power transactions and the split of the vectors of power generations and loads into two components: one traded through the pool and the other ...

Short-term scheduling of thermal power systems

[Proceedings] Conference Papers 1991 Power Industry Computer Application Conference, 2002
An algorithm to solve short-term thermal scheduling problems using the Lagrangian relaxation approach is presented. For individual subproblems, dynamic programming without discretizing generation levels is proved to be an efficient approach. The ramp rate constraint is handled through relaxation.

Realizability of Short-Term Power Generation Schedules

IFAC Proceedings Volumes, 1999
Abstract In the current operation practice of electric power companies, hourly generation schedules obtained in short-term generation scheduling problems are taken as hourly energy delivery schedules. However, it is shown in this paper that hourly generation levels satisfying ramp-rate constraints may not be able to be realized as an energy delivery ...

Short term generation scheduling of a Microgrid

TENCON 2009 - 2009 IEEE Region 10 Conference, 2009
Microgrids are low voltage intelligent distribution networks comprising various distributed generators, storage devices and controllable loads which can be operated as interconnected or as islanded system. The optimal generation scheduling is one of the important functions for the Microgrid operation.

Fuel constrained short-term hydrothermal generation scheduling

Energy, 2022
Abstract Due to gradually diminution of fossil fuel, the cost-effective utilization of available fuel for power generation has turn out to be a vital concern of electric power utilities. Thermal power plants have to operate within their fuel confines and contractual constraints. This work suggests social group entropy optimization (SGEO) technique to

Improved PSO for short term hydrothermal scheduling

International Conference on Sustainable Energy and Intelligent Systems (SEISCON 2011), 2011
This paper addresses short-term scheduling of hydrothermal systems by using Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) algorithm. Particle Swarm Optimization is applied to determine the optimal hourly schedule of power generation in a hydrothermal power system.
