Circuits resilient to short-circuit errors

Proceedings of the 54th Annual ACM SIGACT Symposium on Theory of Computing, 2022
Given a Boolean circuit C, we wish to convert it to a circuit C′ that computes the same function as C even if some of its gates suffer from adversarial short circuit errors, i.e., their output is replaced by the value of one of their inputs. Can we design such a resilient circuit C′ whose size is roughly comparable to that of C?

MIG short-circuit welding: on the short circuit duration

Journal of Physics D: Applied Physics, 1986
The short circuit duration in MIG short-circuit welding is evaluated using the Bless relationship which refers only to mass of drops and surface tension to molten metal. In a typical experiment, the experimental values of short circuit duration fit with the expected ones, considering acceptable value for the surface tension of molten iron.

The conventional short-circuiting technique under-short-circuits most epithelia

The Journal of Membrane Biology, 1981
The relationships among ion current, membrane potential difference, and resistance of an epithelium are studied. The short-circuit technique introduced by Ussing and Zerahn does not completely short circuit the epithelium if the series resistance parallel to the cell layer between the voltage electrodes is not properly compensated.

Analysis of short-circuit conditions in logic circuits

Design, Automation & Test in Europe Conference & Exhibition (DATE), 2017, 2017
The motivation for this paper is the analysis of input conditions that cause a short-circuit in a logic circuit, that is, that create a direct path from the power supply to ground. We model the logic circuit as a graph where edges represent transistors which are either open or closed, function of the input conditions.

Short-circuited neuron: a note

Neuroscience, 2000
Here, we demonstrate in a direct electrophysiological experiment that a neuron can form electrical connections to itself. An isolated identified neuron with a long axon was plated in culture and the axon was looped so that its distal end contacted the cell body.

Diagnosis of Short-Circuit Faults in Combinational Circuits

IEEE Transactions on Computers, 1974
Most work on diagnosis of digital circuits has concentrated on the model of stuck-type faults. Although these faults are probably the most important class of faults, other types of faults do occur in practice and the occurrence of these other faults may affect the diagnosis of stuck-type faults.
