Short circuit TSO currents

Conference on Electrical Insulation & Dielectric Phenomena - Annual Report 1981, 1981
Short circuit thermally stimulated discharge [TSO) has been used as a technique to study trapping characteristics of a material(1). We have in mind experiments in which the sample is initially poled under constant applied voltage V 0 through an ohmic contact, until a steady state current i S is reached.

"Characteristic" Currents and Countercurrents. For short-Circuits Diagnosis

2020 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 2020
Many sophisticated software are available to analyse the design of electrical power systems. Therefore, it becomes relevant to know rules of the thumb to be able to diagnose in an elementary and intuitive way the computerized results. For the short circuit analysis, in most practical cases, it is sufficient to adopt simplified and standard based ...

Short circuits of alternating-current generators

Journal of the A.I.E.E., 1924
In this paper, the author presents a physical conception and simple non-mathematical analysis of the short-circuit phenomena of alternating-current generators. Formulas are developed for the maximum instantaneous values of the armature and field short-circuit currents delivered by both single and polyphase generators, which are equipped with and ...

Switching on Short Circuit Current in an Electric Circuit

Proceedings of the 41st International Universities Power Engineering Conference, 2006
Closing or opening the contacts of a electrical switches is normally done in a totally random fashion and consequently, transient current and voltage disturbances may appear in the electrical system. A way for controlling this transient behavior is possible by operating the switch in synchronism with either the current or the voltage oscillations ...

Short circuit current in tight and leaky epithelia

Biochimica et Biophysica Acta (BBA) - Biomembranes, 1978
The effect of short circuit current on the unidirectional fluxes of ions transported across tight and leaky epithelia was investigated. It was found that short circuiting of the frog gastric mucosa (classified as a tight epithelium) caused a decease of the passive JClms and a significant increase of the net Cl- secretion. However, no significant change

Short-circuit current calculations for DC systems

Proceedings of 1994 IEEE Industry Applications Society Annual Meeting, 1996
The aim of the paper is to describe the methods contained in the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC) draft standard "Calculation of short-circuit currents in DC auxiliary installations in power plants and substations", and to test them using the dynamic computer simulation.

Modeling of Current-Limiting Circuit Breakers for the Calculation of Short-Circuit Current

IEEE Transactions on Power Delivery, 2015
A current-limiting circuit breaker (CLCB) can quickly interrupt circuit faults and limit the short-circuit current. Modeling of a CLCB is important for the calculation of short-circuit current and arc flash energy. Based on the analysis of the arc voltage waveforms of CLCBs, a new arc model is derived.

External impedance vs. short-circuit currents

Electrical Engineering, 1934
Effects of external impedance on short-circuit currents in synchronous machines and in networks are discussed in this article. The material presented is not claimed to be new; its chief value lies in the confirmation of calculations by test results, which tends to increase confidence in formulas previously developed.

Short-circuit current of induction motors and generators

Journal of the American Institute of Electrical Engineers, 1921
There has been a rather prevailing opinion that a sudden short circuit of an induction generator would not cause a serious initial rise in current such as occurs in synchronous generators. This has led to the proposal of the use of such machines as a partial solution of the short-circuit problem on a-c. systems.
