Kinematics based physical modelling and experimental analysis of the shoulder joint complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
The purpose of this work is to develop an experimental physical model of the shoulder joint complex. The aim of this research is to validate the model built and identify the forces on specified positions of this joint.

Resolving and Controlling Silicoaluminophosphate Zeolite Intergrowths and Mixtures

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Low‐dose electron microscopy enables atomic‐resolution imaging of beam‐sensitive SAPO‐34/18 intergrowths, revealing their stacking sequences and spatial distributions under controlled Si content and SDA ratio. This work establishes a methodology linking controllable synthesis with atomic‐resolution microscopy to investigate structure–property ...

Extra‐Articular Abscess Expansion as a Specific Complication of Septic Arthritis of the Shoulder Joint: Report of Three Cases with Extension of the Infection through the Biceps Groove Producing a Large Abscess

open access: yesOrthopaedic Surgery
Background Septic arthritis of shoulder is a rare clinical entity as the metaphysis is extracapsular and there is no communication between epiphyseal and metaphyseal vessels.

A New Variable Stiffness Design: Matching Requirements of the Next Robot Generation

open access: yes, 2008
— Facing new tasks, the conventional rigid design of robotic joints has come to its limits. Operating in unknown environments current robots are prone to failure when hitting unforeseen rigid obstacles. Moreover, safety constraints are a major aspect for

Chiral‐Induced Spin Selectivity Effect in a 1 nm Thin 1,1′‐Binaphthyl‐2,2′‐diyl Hydrogenphosphate Self‐Assembled Monolayer on Nickel Oxide

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A self‐assembled monolayer (≈0.9 nm) of an axially chiral binaphthol phosphoric acid derivative on a ferromagnetic Ni/NiOx substrate shows chiral‐induced spin selectivity (CISS) magnetoresistance of 50%–80%. This thermally and chemically robust functional stack shows the way towards practical spintronic devices based on the CISS effect.

Nanographene‐Based van der Waals Organic Framework With Permanent Porosity

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Unlocking record‐breaking porosity in a supramolecular organic framework (SOF). Through the strategic design of a C3‐symmetric nanographene, a robust supramolecular framework is achieved via exclusively weak van der Waals forces. This metal‐free scaffold reaches a benchmark BET surface area of 1108 m2 g−1 –the highest to date for this class–combining ...
