Background: A newly discovered renal syndrome, shrunken pore syndrome (SPS), has been shown to increase mortality regardless of renal function. SPS is defined as an estimated glomerular filtration rate (eGFR) of cystatin C ≤ 60% than eGFRcreatinine.
