A control strategy for shunt active filter

10th International Conference on Harmonics and Quality of Power. Proceedings (Cat. No.02EX630), 2004
This paper describes a novel control strategy for shunt active filters the sinusoidal Fryze currents control strategy. The control strategy considers the presence of harmonics in the system voltage and load current simultaneously. Although the fundaments of the pq theory is used to better explain the proposed control strategy, it is not directly used ...

Compensation strategies for shunt active-filter control

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 1994
Compensation strategies for control of shunt active filters are compared in the paper. It is shown that the strategy based on unity-power factor control is appropriate when the supply voltage waveform of the plant where the active filter is connected shows significant distortion.

Shunt active filter with sliding mode control

Proceedings of IEEE Region 10 International Conference on Electrical and Electronic Technology. TENCON 2001 (Cat. No.01CH37239), 2002
This paper presents a simple control scheme which adopted the voltage source inverter to decrease current harmonics generated by the nonlinear load. The sliding mode control is used in the current control loop to achieve fast dynamics. Only the source currents are measured in the proposed control scheme to reduce the elements of current sensors needed ...

Shunt active filter for reactive power compensation

International Journal of Electronics, 2001
A simple control technique for three-phase shunt active filters without computation of the reactive current component is presented. A current controller with fast dynamics for an active filter is described. Reactive current is directly controlled without the need for sensing and computing the reactive component of the load current, thus simplifying the

Shunt active power filter synthesizing resistive loads

IEEE Transactions on Power Electronics, 2002
The paper discusses the use of a shunt active power filter to compensate for the line current distortion and to improve the power factor. The advantages of the resistive load synthesis over the sinusoidal current synthesis when the filter is used in a system where the voltage is not perfectly sinusoidal are presented.

Shunt active power filter implementation for induction heating applications

COMPEL - The international journal for computation and mathematics in electrical and electronic engineering, 2005
PurposeThis paper aims to present the prototype of a 140 kVA shunt active power filter (APF) for current harmonics and fundamental reactive power compensation of a 200 kW induction heating system.Design/methodology/approachDesign issues of the power components, of the switching ripple filter and of the digital control are addressed and discussed.
