INTRACARDIAC SHUNTS

open access: yesCritical Care Clinics, 1996
Unsuspected intracardiac shunts can be a cause of acute deterioration in critically ill patients. Shunts can be acquired or congenital conditions that become symptomatic only with changed physiologic conditions. Transesophageal echocardiography is an excellent tool for the diagnosis of intracardiac shunts.

Model of Shunting Technology Based on System Structure

open access: yesPromet (Zagreb), 2003
Railway transport is facing a growing liquidity problem. The major problem in small systems is the detention of wagonsat marshalling yards, which prolongs the time of freight travel. To avoid this problem it is of great importance to search for ...

Imaging findings as predictors of the site of bleeding in patients with hemoptysis: Comparison between split-bolus dual-energy CT angiography and digital subtraction angiography

open access: yesDiagnostic and Interventional Radiology, 2022
PURPOSESystemic to pulmonary vasculature shunting (SPS) is an important finding to identify the probable site of bleeding, especially in multicentric parenchymal lung disease. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the value of imaging findings, which

Recommendations for the selection of parameters for shunting locomotives [PDF]

open access: yesArchives of Transport, 2020
Shunting is an integral part of the partial process. In 1520 mm gauge countries, shunting operations are performed by outdated locomotives, which are being replaced by modern models; the technical parameters best match the conditions of the shunting work

Reduced Handgrip Strength in Congenital Heart Disease With Regard to the Shunt Procedure in Infancy

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2018
Objective: In many patients with congenital heart disease (CHD) arterial blood flow to the arms is inhibited due to shunt surgery in infancy. This study investigates the handgrip strength of patients with CHD in regard to previous shunt procedures ...

Success Rates and Complications of Ventriculoperitoneal and Ventriculoatrial Shunting: A Systematic Review [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Neurosurgery, 2021
Background and Aim: The insertion of Ventriculoperitoneal (VP) or Ventriculoatrial (VA) shunt is the first line of treatment in patients with hydrocephalus and normal-pressure hydrocephalus. The provision of a safety profile for shunting in the treatment

Method of railway shunting operation sheet information extraction guided by table header

open access: yesIET Intelligent Transport Systems, 2022
The railway shunting operation sheet is the written plan of the shunting operation. In the current shunting operation preparation process, signalmen must input the plans manually for subsequent execution, which is inefficient and at risk of misoperation.

Fetal liver blood flow distribution: role in human developmental strategy to prioritize fat deposition versus brain development [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Among primates, human neonates have the largest brains but also the highest proportion of body fat. If placental nutrient supply is limited, the fetus faces a dilemma: should resources be allocated to brain growth, or to fat deposition for use as a ...

Modelling single ventricle physiology: Review of engineering tools to study first stage palliation of hypoplastic left heart syndrome

open access: yesFrontiers in Pediatrics, 2013
First stage palliation of hypoplastic left heart syndrome (HLHS), i.e. the Norwood operation, results in a complex physiological arrangement, involving different shunting options (modified Blalock-Taussig, RV-PA conduit, central shunt from the ascending ...
