Glenn circulation causes early and progressive shunting in a surgical model of pulmonary arteriovenous malformations

open access: yesPhysiological Reports
Pulmonary arteriovenous malformations (PAVMs) universally develop in patients with single ventricle congenital heart disease. Single ventricle PAVMs have been recognized for over 50 years but remain poorly understood.

Development of the traction system structure of a shunting diesel locomotive with a hybrid power supply scheme

open access: yesЗбірник наукових праць Державного університету інфраструктури та технологій: серія "Транспортні системи і технології"
In this work, the structure of the traction system of a shunting diesel locomotive with hybrid power, which performs both shunting work at the station and hauling work, is proposed.

Bilateral abducens and facial nerve palsies as a localizing sign due to reduction in intracranial pressure after fourth ventriculoperitoneal shunting

open access: yesAnnals of Indian Academy of Neurology, 2016
A trapped fourth ventricle often requires fourth ventriculoperitoneal shunting (4VP). Complications of this procedure include shunt blockage, infection, shunt migration, and overdrainage.

Tailoring Hydrogenation to Enhance Defect Suppression and Charge Transport in Hydrogenated Amorphous Silicon for Flexible Photodetectors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Hydregen content was tailored during ultra‐low‐temperature plasma‐enhanced chemical vaper deposition (PECVD) to deposit hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a ‐ Si:H) films, and the effect of the hydrogen dilution ratio on defect suppression was analyzed.

Impact of Virus‐Mediated Modifications in Bacterial Communities on the Accumulation of Soil Organic Carbon

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study illustrates the impact of viruses on carbon cycling in soils with different availabilities of carbon. In conditions of low carbon availability, viruses adopt a lysogenic lifestyle, integrate into the host genomes and facilitate the degradation of carbon.

Metal‐Less Top Electrode Semitransparent Organic Solar Modules with an Average Visible Transmission of 51% and a Light Utilization Efficiency of 4%

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Semitransparent organic modules with device areas of 11.4 cm2 are developed for building‐integrated photovoltaics. Including a laser‐structured, metal‐free top electrode, the module achieves a PCE of 6.1% with an AVT of 47.5%. An extended back‐electrode design enhances optical and electrical performance, achieving PCE of 7.9%, AVT of 50.8%, and LUE of ...

Analysis of operation modes of shunting diesel locomotives when performing shunting work

open access: yesЗбірник наукових праць Державного університету інфраструктури та технологій: серія "Транспортні системи і технології", 2023
An overview of modern trends in updating shunting locomotives, which are based on the installation of on-board energy storage devices, multi-diesel propulsion power plants, and power plants operated on hydrogen energy sources, was carried out.

Enhancing z Spin Generation in Trivial Spin Hall Materials for Scalable, Energy‐Efficient, Field‐Free, Complete Spin‐Orbit Torque Switching Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Z‐spin current has the potential to enable efficient electrical switching of perpendicular magnetization. This article reports a giant enhancement of z spin generation in low‐resistivity spin Hall metal/FeCoB devices by alloying Pt with Ti and by electric asymmetry engineering, providing a universal strategy for developing high‐performance generators ...

A comparison of paracentesis and transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunting in patients with ascites.

open access: yesNew England Journal of Medicine, 2000
BACKGROUND In patients with cirrhosis and ascites, creation of a transjugular intrahepatic portosystemic shunt may reduce the ascites and improve renal function. However, the benefit of this procedure as compared with that of large-volume paracentesis is
