Wideband SI Engine Lambda Control
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1998<div class="htmlview paragraph">Long term control of the AFR (Air/Fuel Ratio) of spark ignition engines is currently accomplished with a selvoscillating PI control loop. Because of the intake/exhaust time delay, the oscillation frequency and hence bandwidth of this loop is small.

Variable compression in SI engines
SAE Technical Paper Series, 2001<div class="htmlview paragraph">Downsizing is an effective way to further improve the efficiency of SI engines. To make most of this concept, the compression ratio has to be adjusted during engine operation. Thus, the efficiency disadvantages during part load can be eliminated. A fuel consumption reduction of up to 30% can be realized compared to

Downsizing of SI Engines by Turbo-Charging
Volume 4: Fatigue and Fracture, Heat Transfer, Internal Combustion Engines, Manufacturing, and Technology and Society, 2006During most of the operating conditions occurring on a vehicle driving cycle, a reciprocating IC engine works at low load and low speed, with poor fuel efficiency. In this regard downsizing appears as a major way of improving fuel consumption of Spark Ignition Engines.

SI Units in Geotechnical Engineering
Geotechnical Testing Journal, 1980Abstract A brief description is presented of the International System of Units (SI) as it might be applied to geotechnical engineering. Base as well as derived SI units that are of interest to geotechnical engineers are described in detail, and conversion factors for units in common usage are given. A few examples of conversions are also

Engine Capability Prediction for SI Engine Fueled With Syngas
Volume 1: Large Bore Engines; Fuels; Advanced Combustion, 2015There are increasing interests in converting solid waste or lignocellulosic biomass into gaseous fuels and using reciprocating internal combustion engine to generate electricity. A widely used technique is gasification. Gasification is a process where the solid fuel and air are introduced to a partial oxidation environment, and generate combustible ...

Engine Variables Affecting the SI Engine Knock
Volume 2: Large-Bore Engines, Fuel Effects, Homogeneous Charge Compression Ignition, Engine Performance and Simulation, 2001Abstract To program the automatic performance control loops of the modern cars at the design stage, numerical result of engine variables effecting knock intensity is the most important tool. Although general aspects of the effect of engine operating conditions on knock have been studied in previous investigations, precise numerical ...

Engine-Out “Dry” Particular Matter Emissions from SI Engines
SAE Technical Paper Series, 1997<div class="htmlview paragraph">The Engine-Out Particulate Matter (EOPM) was collected from a spark ignition engine operating in steady state using a heated quartz fiber filter. The samples were weighted to obtain an EOPMindex and were analyzed using Scanning Electron Microscopy.
