Dizziness and vertigo sick leave before and after insurance restrictions – a descriptive Swedish nationwide register linkage study

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background Vertigo and dizziness can be disabling symptoms that result in sick leave. Research regarding sickness absence due to dizziness has focused on specific vestibular diagnoses rather than the nonspecific vertigo/dizziness diagnoses.

Impact of psychosocial work factors on risk of medically certified sick leave due to common mental disorders: a nationwide prospective cohort study of Norwegian home care workers

open access: yesBMC Public Health
Background The Norwegian home care services experience a high level of sick leave, a large proportion of which is due to common mental disorders. A substantial number of such cases can be attributed to psychosocial factors at work, but more knowledge ...

Employment Trajectories of Patients with Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and Factors Driving Transitions Between States

open access: yesArthritis Care &Research, Accepted Article.
Objective Systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) significantly impacts employment capacity. This study aimed to investigate the impact of burden of disease activity, damage, and treatment on employment outcomes and transitions in patients with SLE. Materials and Methods Using data from a single center, we analyzed employment transitions, adjusted mean ...

[Psychiatric sick leave].

open access: yesRevista medica de Chile, 2018
There is no consensus amongst physicians, social security representatives and researchers about optimum sick leaves. This is an indication that should maximize positive outcomes and minimize potential side effects, both for the patient and society. The use of sick leaves during the last decade rose steadily, particularly in the psychiatric field.

Variable Stiffness Flexure Structures Enabled by Phase‐Change Gallium and Adhesive Interfacial Locking for Soft Robotic Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A flexure‐based variable stiffness structure is developed by integrating phase‐change modulation and adhesive interfacial locking of gallium. The design enables a wide stiffness variability, transitioning from soft, flexible behavior to rigid, load‐supporting performance.

Inverse Identification of Energy‐Dependent Laser Absorptivity in NiTi Laser Powder‐Bed Fusion via Calibrated Melt Pool Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
A combined experimental–computational framework identifies energy‐dependent laser absorptivity for NiTi in laser powder‐bed fusion, applicable to conduction and transition modes. Single‐track experiments and thermofluid smoothed particle hydrodynamics simulations are coupled through inverse analysis of melt pool geometry.

Triple Junctions as Dislocation‐Like Defects: The Role of Grain Boundary Crystallography Revealed by Experiment and Atomistic Simulation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Grain boundary triple junctions are an essential ingredient of the microstructure of polycrystalline materials. In this study, a triple junction is observed using atomic‐resolution scanning transmission electron microscopy and characterized. Computer simulations reveal that the junction has a dislocation character that is determined by the joining ...
