A sub-constant improvement in approximating the positive semidefinite Grothendieck problem [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2014
Semidefinite relaxations are a powerful tool for approximately solving combinatorial optimization problems such as MAX-CUT and the Grothendieck problem. By exploiting a bounded rank property of extreme points in the semidefinite cone, we make a sub-constant improvement in the approximation ratio of one such problem.

Representing Volumetric Videos as Dynamic MLP Maps [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
This paper introduces a novel representation of volumetric videos for real-time view synthesis of dynamic scenes. Recent advances in neural scene representations demonstrate their remarkable capability to model and render complex static scenes, but extending them to represent dynamic scenes is not straightforward due to their slow rendering speed or ...

Impact of mental health service use on the HIV care cascade among women

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Background While the negative effects of mental health issues on HIV clinical outcomes have been well‐documented, the impact of mental health treatment on the HIV care cascade is largely uncharacterized. The objective of this study was to describe the engagement of women with mental health conditions and symptoms, who reported using mental ...

Empirical effect of graph embeddings on fraud detection/ risk mitigation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
Graph embedding technics are studied with interest on public datasets, such as BlogCatalog, with the common practice of maximizing scoring on graph reconstruction, link prediction metrics etc. However, in the financial sector the important metrics are often more business related, for example fraud detection rates. With our privileged position of having

Accessing Higher Dimensions for Unsupervised Word Translation [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2023
The striking ability of unsupervised word translation has been demonstrated with the help of word vectors / pretraining; however, they require large amounts of data and usually fails if the data come from different domains. We propose coocmap, a method that can use either high-dimensional co-occurrence counts or their lower-dimensional approximations ...

Trends of severe HIV disease and mortality among children in rural Tanzania

open access: yesHIV Medicine, EarlyView.
Abstract Objective To assess trends of severe HIV disease (SHD) and mortality/loss to follow‐up (LTFU) among children living with HIV in rural Tanzania. Methods Among children aged 0–14 years living with HIV enrolled in the prospective Kilombero & Ulanga Antiretroviral Cohort in January 2005–December 2023, we determined WHO‐defined SHD prevalences at ...

Spatial Consistency Evaluation Based on Massive SIMO Measurements [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this paper, the spatial consistency of wireless massive single-input-multiple-output channels in a cellular small cell scenario is evaluated based on measurements taken in Berlin city. The evaluation is done by computing the similarity of covariance matrices over the distance. As similarity measure the correlation matrix distance is used.
