Exon 7 splicing of ERα predicts poor prognosis and increases phenotypic heterogeneity in luminal a subtype breast cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ERα splice variant ERα∆7 lacks the C‐terminus, and its expression may change phenotypes of breast cancers. Our results showed that ERα∆7 is found in the luminal A subtype, and elevated ERα∆7 levels are linked to improved cell survival with lower proliferation and migration.

Compress: Generate Small and Fast Masked Pipelined Circuits

open access: yesTransactions on Cryptographic Hardware and Embedded Systems
Masking is an effective countermeasure against side-channel attacks. It replaces every logic gate in a computation by a gadget that performs the operation over secret sharings of the circuit’s variables.

YlmG1 is localized exclusively to the chloroplast envelope membrane and is involved in preprotein translocation in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Cytosolically synthesized chloroplast preproteins are translocated across the outer and inner envelope membranes through translocons called TOC and TIC, respectively. In green algae and plants, the TIC core is composed of essential membrane proteins, Tic12, Tic20, and Tic214.

Joint Source-Channel Cooperative Transmission over Relay-Broadcast Networks

open access: yes, 2012
Reliable transmission of a discrete memoryless source over a multiple-relay relay-broadcast network is considered. Motivated by sensor network applications, it is assumed that the relays and the destinations all have access to side information correlated

Decreased cold‐sensing function of the transient receptor potential channel TRPM8 from tailed amphibians

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Despite frogs avoiding low temperatures, examination of four salamander species revealed that none avoided cold and all possessed cold tolerance. Functional analysis of TRPM8, a cold sensor, showed that all salamander TRPM8s had lost their cold sensitivity.

TAMIS: Golden-Model-Free EM Trojan Detection via Temperature-Aware Multi-Instance Segmentation and Clustering

open access: yesIEEE Access
We present a Golden-Model-free framework for hardware Trojan (HT) detection that treats temperature not as noise to remove but as physical context that organizes electromagnetic (EM) variability.

Investment Cost Channel and Monetary Transmission [PDF]

open access: yes
We show that a standard DSGE model with investment cost channels has important model stability and policy implications. Our analysis suggests that in economies characterized by supply side well as demand side channels of monetary transmission ...

Joint Wyner-Ziv/Dirty Paper coding by modulo-lattice modulation

open access: yes, 2008
The combination of source coding with decoder side-information (Wyner-Ziv problem) and channel coding with encoder side-information (Gel'fand-Pinsker problem) can be optimally solved using the separation principle.

Large‐scale bidirectional arrayed genetic screens identify OXR1 and EMC4 as modifiers of αSynuclein aggregation

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Activation of the mitochondrial protein OXR1 increases pSyn129 αSynuclein aggregation by lowering ATP levels and altering mitochondrial membrane potential, particularly in response to MSA‐derived fibrils. In contrast, ablation of the ER protein EMC4 enhances autophagic flux and lysosomal clearance, broadly reducing α‐synuclein aggregates.
