IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Source Coding Problems With Conditionally Less Noisy Side Information

open access: yes, 2014
A computable expression for Heegard and Berger's rate-distortion function has eluded information theory for nearly three decades. Heegard and Berger's single-letter achievability bound is well known to be optimal for physically degraded side information;

A New Method for SLM-Based OFDM Systems without Side Information

open access: yesInternational Journal of Information and Communication Technology Research, 2015
One of the most well-known techniques to reduce the problem of PAPR in orthogonal frequency division multiplexing (OFDM) systems is selected mapping (SLM). The chief drawback of this method is transmission of several additional bits, side information (SI)

Differential expression of cancer‐related genes supports prediction of poor response to first‐line treatments in T‐ALL pediatric patients with high minimal residual disease

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In the present work, we have identified a transcriptional signature based on the differential expression of six genes (BCL2&MAST4, HSH2D&LAT2, METRN&PITPNM2) that would facilitate the early detection of T‐cell acute lymphoblastic leukemia (T‐ALL) patients prone to a poor treatment response and could be implemented at diagnosis, along with other risk ...

Research on Optimal Dispatching Strategy for Micro-Energy-Grid of Protected Agriculture

open access: yesApplied Sciences, 2019
With the growth in demand for energy and the boom in energy internet (EI) technologies, comes the multi-energy complementary system. In this paper, we first model the components of the micro-energy-grid for a greenhouse, and then analyzed two types of ...

KDM7A and KDM1A inhibition suppresses tumour promoting pathways in prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Treatment resistance is a major challenge for patients with advanced prostate cancer. This study examined an alternative approach to target the major prostate cancer‐promoting pathway by targeting epigenetic factors, whose levels are higher in tumours.

Spectral Clustering with Side Information

open access: yes
In the graph clustering problem with a planted solution, the input is a graph on $n$ vertices partitioned into $k$ clusters, and the task is to infer the clusters from graph structure. A standard assumption is that clusters induce well-connected subgraphs (i.e. $Ω(1)$-expanders), and form $ε$-sparse cuts. Such a graph defines the clustering uniquely up
