Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Centrifugal model tests on vertical bearing characteristics of undercompacted slope piles

open access: yesYantu gongcheng xuebao
The existing theories and experience of pile foundation are based on the flat slopes, and the stress characteristics of undercompacted slope piles are quite different from those of flat slope piles.

Resistance behaviour of carbon fibre-reinforced polymers subjected to lightning strikes: Experimental investigation and application

open access: yesAdvanced Composites Letters, 2019
It is difficult to monitor lightning damage to carbon fibre-reinforced polymers (CFRPs) online. This work experimentally investigates the changes associated with the electrical resistance of CFRPs subjected to lightning strikes.

Load-Bearing Characteristics of Large-Diameter Rock-Socketed Piles Based on Ultimate Load Tests

open access: yesAdvances in Materials Science and Engineering, 2020
As part of a large converter project in Shandong Province, vertical static load tests and internal force tests were conducted on three large-diameter rock-socketed piles, their load transfer mechanism was clarified, and the ultimate side resistance and ...

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Experimental Study on Penetration Mechanical Mechanism of Jacked Pile in Clayey Soil

open access: yes工程科学与技术, 2020
For open-ended jacked pipe pile, the pile body is subjected to complex forces during pile jacking, especially the soil plug resistance caused by soil plug effect inside the pile body, which has a significant influence on the pile side resistance ...

Soil arching effect analysis and structure optimization of a robot foot sinking in soft soil

open access: yesAdvances in Mechanical Engineering, 2017
In this study, to analyze the influence of the cross-sectional shape of a rigid foot on its sinking performance in soft soil, a numerical model of the subsidence of a single leg was built using the arbitrary Lagrangian–Eulerian method in ABAQUS to ...

Engineering peptides into antibodies—opportunities and strategies for therapeutic innovation

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Peptides and antibodies occupy complementary therapeutic niches. Peptides recognize difficult targets in a compact format, while antibodies add specificity, long half‐life, and effector functions. This review examines strategies that merge both modalities—peptide grafting into loops, terminal and Fc fusions, and bioconjugation—highlighting how ...

Optimization Design and Experiment of High-Speed Drag-Reducing Trencher Based on Conservation Tillage

open access: yesActuators, 2023
In the realm of high-speed precision broadcasting, the existing seeder opener proves inadequate for the speed of the seeding operation. We focus on the duckbill opener and employ the quadratic regression orthogonal rotation combination test design method

A Side-Channel Attack Resistive ECDSA

open access: yesJournal of Physics: Conference Series, 2020
Abstract Elliptic curve plays an important role in securing critical software applications as it is one of the most powerful and widely utilized encryption algorithms. It is used in many applications such as digital signature schemes. Elliptic curve algorithms are hard to break, however, attackers find another indirect and more efficient
