Effect of pH, Reducing Sugars, and Protein on Roasted Sunflower Seed Aroma Volatiles

open access: yesFoods, 2023
Sunflower seeds are a popular snack in many countries, such as the United States, China, and Spain. Sunflower seeds are typically roasted to create desirable aromas before being eaten.

The in vitro identification and quantification of volatile biomarkers released by cystic fibrosis pathogens [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
There is interest in the development of exhaled breath tests for the detection of lower airway infection in children with cystic fibrosis. The first stage of this process is the identification of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) released into the gas ...

Headspace-Selected Ion Flow Tube Mass Spectrometry Workflows for Rapid Screening and Quantitation of Hazardous Volatile Impurities in Personal Care Products

open access: yesAnalytica
Personal care products (PCPs) are intended for regular application by consumers and therefore assuring the safety of these products is very important. Recently, benzene contamination has been highlighted in certain PCPs.

Adoption of SIFT-MS for VOC Pollution Monitoring in South Korea

open access: yesEnvironments, 2023
The pollution of air and water with volatile organic compounds (VOCs), both hazardous and odorous, is of significant concern due to impacts on human health and quality of life, as well as the environment. South Korea is a highly industrialized and densely populated nation and suffers from significant VOC and ozone pollution.

Product ion distributions for the reactions of NO+ with some N-containing and O-containing heterocyclic compounds obtained using SRI-TOF-MS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Product ion distributions for the reactions of NO+ with nine O-containing and six N-containing heterocyclic compounds present in human volatilome have been determined under the conditions of a Selective Reagent Ionization Time of Flight Mass Spectrometer

RI-LPOH: Rotation-Invariant Local Phase Orientation Histogram for Multi-Modal Image Matching

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2022
To better cope with the significant nonlinear radiation distortions (NRD) and severe rotational distortions in multi-modal remote sensing image matching, this paper introduces a rotationally robust feature-matching method based on the maximum index map ...

Emissions of trace gases from Australian temperate forest fires: emission factors and dependence on modified combustion efficiency [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
We characterised trace gas emissions from Australian temperate forest fires through a mixture of open-path Fourier transform infrared (OP-FTIR) measurements and selective ion flow tube mass spectrometry (SIFT-MS) and White cell FTIR analysis of grab ...

Development of a compact, IoT-enabled electronic nose for breath analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2020
In this paper, we report on an in-house developed electronic nose (E-nose) for use with breath analysis. The unit consists of an array of 10 micro-electro-mechanical systems (MEMS) metal oxide (MOX) gas sensors produced by seven manufacturers.

EBSD Study of Creep‐Induced Lattice Misorientation in MgO‐Particle‐Reinforced Austenitic Steel Composites

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Creep experiments at 900°C on coarse‐grained steel‐ceramic composites containing recycled magnesia reveal that higher ceramic volume fractions significantly enhance the creep resistance. Detailed EBSD investigations identify subgrain formation in the steel matrix as the dominant deformation mechanism.

Rapid continuous chemical analysis of meat chicken shed emissions by SIFT–MS [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Assessing and addressing odour impacts from poultry production is extremely difficult and subjective because the odorants involved and their dynamics over time and space are poorly understood.
