Assessment of Atmospheric Pollution by Selected Elements and PAHs during 12-Month Active Biomonitoring of Terrestrial Mosses

open access: yesAtmosphere
Biomonitoring studies are most often used in short-term study periods to quickly obtain information on the state/quality of the environment and its pollution levels.

Digital libraries supporting distance education. Sponsored by SIG DL, SIG ED, SIG PUB [PDF]

open access: yesProceedings of the American Society for Information Science and Technology, 2002
AbstractUse of online courseware in supporting distributed and distance learning in higher education is maturing in terms of both technology and organizational readiness. However, faculty and institutions are concerned with receiving equal credit for creating and delivering online courses.

Semi-Implicit Generative Model [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
To combine explicit and implicit generative models, we introduce semi-implicit generator (SIG) as a flexible hierarchical model that can be trained in the maximum likelihood framework. Both theoretically and experimentally, we demonstrate that SIG can generate high quality samples especially when dealing with multi-modality.

The Development and Validation of the Smell‐Qx Questionnaire, Based on a Systematic Review of the Literature and the COMET Initiative on the Development of Core Outcome Sets for Clinical Trials in Olfactory Disorders

open access: yesInternational Forum of Allergy &Rhinology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Olfactory dysfunction affects up to 22% of the population. Accurate assessment is vital for diagnosis and tracking outcomes, often using patient‐reported outcome measures (PROMs). Aims We aimed to develop and validate a novel questionnaire for assessing olfactory and gustatory dysfunction.

The Structure of $G/Φ(G)$ in Terms of $σ(G)$ [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2005
Let $G$ be a finite group. We let $\f{m}(G)$ and $\sig(G)$ denote the number of maximal subgroups of $G$ and the least positive integer $n$ such that $G$ is written as the union of $n$ proper subgroups, respectively. In this paper we determine the structure of $G/\Phi(G)$ when $G$ is a finite soluble group with $\f{m}(G)\leq 2\sig(G)$.

Opening the band gap of graphene through silicon doping for improved performance of graphene/GaAs heterojunction solar cells [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
Graphene has attracted increasing interests due to its remarkable properties, however, the zero band gap of monolayer graphene might limit its further electronic and optoelectronic applications. Herein, we have successfully synthesized monolayer silicon-doped graphene (SiG) in large area by chemical vapor deposition method. Raman spectroscopy and X-ray

The Massively Accreting Cluster A2029 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
We explore the structure of galaxy cluster Abell 2029 and its surroundings based on intensive spectroscopy along with X-ray and weak lensing observations. The redshift survey includes 4376 galaxies (1215 spectroscopic cluster members) within 40 arcmin of the cluster center; the redshifts are included here. Two subsystems, A2033 and a Southern Infalling

Proteomic Profiling of the Large‐Vessel Vasculitis Spectrum Identifying Shared Signatures of Innate Immune Activation and Stromal Remodeling

open access: yesArthritis &Rheumatology, EarlyView.
Objective Takayasu arteritis (TAK) and giant cell arteritis (GCA), the most common forms of large‐vessel vasculitis (LVV), can result in serious morbidity. Understanding the molecular basis of LVV should aid in developing better biomarkers and treatments. Methods Plasma proteomic profiling of 184 proteins was performed in two cohorts. Cohort 1 included
