Oversampled Sigma-Delta Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1987
Summary: Oversampled sigma-delta modulation has been proposed as a practical implementation for high rate analog-to-digital conversion because of its simplicity and its robustness against circuit imperfections. To date, mathematical developments of the basic properties of such systems have been based either on simplified continuous-time approximate ...

Decimation for Sigma Delta Modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1986
Decimation is an important component of oversampled analog-to-digital conversion. It transforms the digitally modulated signal from short words occurring at high sampling rate to longer words at the Nyquist rate. Here we are concerned with the initial stage of decimation, where the word rate decreases to about four times the Nyquist rate.

Implementation of Burst Control based on Sigma-Delta Modulation in Low-Cost Microcontroller

Compel, 2022
Sigma-delta modulation is a well-known tool in telecommunication and digital signal processing. However, in power electronics, its use did not attract sufficient interest.

Hardware Implementation of a SiC Three-Phase Four-Leg VSI with Sigma-Delta Modulation to Comply with the Military Standards 1399 and 461

European Conference on Cognitive Ergonomics, 2022
This paper demonstrates sigma-delta pulse density modulation without common mode voltage in a four-leg voltage source inverter built with SiC MOSFETs and controlled by an FPGA. The converter does not produce common mode voltage in the switching frequency

A Model of Continuous-Time Sigma Delta Modulation Based on Pulse Frequency Encoding

International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2020
The parallelism between a first-order sigma-delta modulator and a VCO-based ADC allows to calculate the DFT of the sigma delta sequence using Pulse Frequency Modulation theory.

Multistage sigma-delta modulation

IEEE Transactions on Information Theory, 1989
A theoretical basis is provided for multistage sigma-delta modulation (MSM), which is a cascade realization of several single-loop sigma-delta modulators with a linear combinatorial network. Equations are derived describing the output and the quantization noise of MSM for an arbitrary input signal, and the noise-shaping characteristic of MSM is ...

0.65V sigma-delta modulators

Proceedings of the 2003 International Symposium on Circuits and Systems, 2003. ISCAS '03., 2003
/spl Sigma//spl Delta/ modulators for portable applications are presented operating within a large range of supply voltages. A 2/sup nd/ order and a cascaded 3rd order modulator are designed in Switched-Opamp (SO) technique with common mode level shift.

Modulo sigma-delta modulation

IEEE Transactions on Communications, 1992
A modulo sigma-delta modulator is introduced, and the behavior of the quantization error is derived. The system consists of a modulo limiter followed by a sigma-delta modulator. The limiter confines the input to the no-overload region of the sigma-delta modulator, and the modulo arithmetic performed by the limiter is amenable to recently developed ...
