Synergistic Reduction of Breast Cancer Cell Viability and Aggressiveness Through Dual Inhibition of APE1 Redox Function and STAT3 Signaling

open access: yesCell Biology International, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aggressiveness and resistance to treatments are significant problems in cancer management. In this scenario, searching for new pharmacological targets for therapies is essential. The APE1 redox domain coactivates transcription factors that favor cancer malignancy. One of APE1's targets, STAT3, coordinates the transcription of genes involved in

Castleman's Disease in the Sigmoid Mesocolon: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of the Korean Radiological Society, 2008
Castleman’s disease is a rare disorder that’s characterized by the proliferation of lymphoid tissue. It is very rare to find this disease arising from the sigmoid mesocolon. We report here on a case of localized Castleman’s disease involving the sigmoid mesocolon, and we discuss the findings of the gray-scale ultrasonography (US), computed tomography ...

Predicting acute decompensated heart failure using circadian markers from heart rate time series

open access: yesESC Heart Failure, EarlyView.
Circadian metrics—amplitude, mesor, and acrophase—derived from a wrist‐worn heart rate monitor can predict acute decompensated heart failure (ADHF) up to 21 days before onset. In 65 post‐ADHF patients, an LSTM model achieved 74% sensitivity, and 73% specificity trained on 21‐day sequences. These findings support circadian rhythm analysis as a promising

The macro-economic effects of health co-benefits associated with climate change mitigation strategies [PDF]

open access: yes
The UK government has specific targets for greenhouse gas (GHG) emission reduction to lower the risk of dangerous climate change. Strategies to reduce GHG emissions are sometimes perceived as expensive and difficult to implement but previous work has ...

Clitocybe squamulosa Polysaccharides Ameliorate Dextran Sulfate Sodium‐Induced Colitis by Regulating the PI3K/AKt/mTOR Pathway and the Intestinal Flora in Mice

open access: yesFood Frontiers, EarlyView.
The potential mechanisms of CSFP and CE in alleviating UC. ABSTRACT Ulcerative colitis (UC) is a chronic inflammatory bowel disease characterized by persistent inflammation and ulceration of the colon. This research investigated the protective effects of Clitocybe squamulosa fruiting body polysaccharide (CSFP) and purified polysaccharides named CE on ...
