RaMBat: Accurate identification of medulloblastoma subtypes from diverse data sources with severe batch effects

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
To integrate multiple transcriptomics data with severe batch effects for identifying MB subtypes, we developed a novel and accurate computational method named RaMBat, which leveraged subtype‐specific gene expression ranking information instead of absolute gene expression levels to address batch effects of diverse data sources.

Diabetes‐induced vascular calcification is associated with low pyrophosphate and its oral supplementation prevents calcification in diabetic mice

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Induction of diabetes in three different mouse strains uniformly resulted in an increase in TNAP activity and a reduction in pyrophosphate (PPi) in the circulation. Inhibition of TNAP restored plasma PPi. Diabetes‐induced calcification in the media layer of the aorta was detected only in the Abcc6−/− strain, which is predisposed to ectopic ...

Harnessing Data-mining Algorithms to Model and Evaluate Factors Influencing Distortion Product Otoacoustic Emission Variations in a Mining Industry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Environmental Health Engineering
Aim: The aim of this study was to gauge the condition of otoacoustic emissions (OAEs) in workers, followed by modeling and estimating the weight of factors affecting changes in their emissions. Methods: The present study comprises two main phases. In the

Non-uniformity of Clinical Head, Head and Neck, and Body Coils in Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) [PDF]

open access: yesIranian Journal of Medical Physics, 2014
Introduction Signal intensity uniformity in a magnetic resonance (MR) image indicates how well the MR imaging (MRI) system represents an object. One of the major sources of image non-uniformity in high-field MRI scanners is inhomogeneity of radio ...

Polarization‐resolved femtosecond Vis/IR spectroscopy tailored for resolving weak signals in biological samples using minimal sample volume

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Unique biological samples, such as site‐specific mutant proteins, are available only in limited quantities. Here, we present a polarization‐resolved transient infrared spectroscopy setup with referencing to improve signal‐to‐noise tailored towards tracing small signals. We provide an overview of characterizing the excitation conditions for polarization‐

Differential regulation of ZFAS1 splice variants by endoplasmic reticulum stress in hepatocyte cell lines

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
ZFAS1 is a lncRNA promoting cell proliferation and migration, exhibiting high expression in various cancers. It is conserved, widely expressed, and produces multiple splice variants with unclear roles. We identified several splice variants in hepatocyte models, and found that inhibiting or suppressing regulators of the unfolded protein response (PERK ...

Eddy-covariance data with low signal-to-noise ratio: time-lag determination, uncertainties and limit of detection

open access: yes, 2015
. All eddy-covariance flux measurements are associated with random uncertainties which are a combination of sampling error due to natural variability in turbulence and sensor noise.

Model Analysis of FDD-LTE Forward Interference and Capacity

open access: yesDianxin kexue, 2015
The forward interference is an important factor that affects the FDD-LTE network capacity and user experience. FDD-LTE forward interference and capacity were analyzed. A forward interference model was proposed under various network loads.

Meta‐analysis fails to show any correlation between protein abundance and ubiquitination changes

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
We analyzed over 50 published proteomics datasets to explore the relationship between protein levels and ubiquitination changes across multiple experimental conditions and biological systems. Although ubiquitination is often associated with protein degradation, our analysis shows that changes in ubiquitination do not globally correlate with changes in ...
