CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

FDI as a signal of quality [PDF]

open access: possibleEconomics Letters, 2009
Abstract A new-product firm's entry strategy into foreign markets is considered. We show that, when product quality is unknown, a new-product firm may choose FDI over exporting to signal quality even if exporting is more cost-effective.

Improving the Signal Quality of Grades

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2021
Abstract We investigate how improving the signal quality of grades could enhance the matching of students to selective opportunities that are awarded early in academic programs. To do so, we develop methods to measure the signal quality of grades and to estimate the impact of changes to university policies on the identification of ...

Signal quality indices evaluation for robust ECG signal quality assessment systems

Biomedical Physics & Engineering Express, 2023
Abstract As the current healthcare system faces problems of budget, staffing, and equipment, telemedicine through wearable devices gives a means of solving them. However, their adoption by physicians is hampered by the quality of electrocardiogram (ECG) signals recorded outside the hospital setting.

Signaling Quality Via Queues

SSRN Electronic Journal, 2010
We consider an M/M/1 queueing system with impatient consumers who observe the length of the queue before deciding whether to buy the product. The product may have high or low quality, and consumers are heterogeneously informed. The firm chooses a slow or (at a cost) a fast service rate.
