T Cell Differentiation T cell differentiation into effector and memory T cell subsets is influenced by T cell receptor (TCR) signals. Snook et al. examined how TCR signals influence CD4+ T cell differentiation by using a panel of cloned TCRs that recognize the same MHC (major ...

Strength of affective reaction as a signal to think carefully
Cognition and Emotion, 2014Analytic processes reduce biases, but it is not known how or when these processes will be deployed. Based on an affective signal hypothesis, relatively strong affective reactions were expected to result in increased analytic processing and reduced bias in judgement.

Indoor localization using received signal strength
2013 8th IEEE Design and Test Symposium, 2013A comparison between two indoor localization algorithms using received signal strength is carried out. The first algorithm is the vector algorithm; the second is the matrix algorithm. The comparison considered the effects of the reference points, the access point, and the frequency on the accuracy of the localization process.

Propagation and signal strength prediction
1989We saw at the beginning of Chapter 2 that in general the mobile radio signal is extremely variable. The mean signal strength will be constant only over relatively small areas, and will vary slowly as the receiver is moved. Superimposed on this slowly-varying mean is the fast fading which is caused by multipath propagation in the immediate vicinity of ...

Feasibility of ultrasound positioning based on signal strength
2012 International Conference on Indoor Positioning and Indoor Navigation (IPIN), 2012The objective of this paper is to analyze the performance of an indoor positioning system based on the ultrasound level, usually called RSSI (received signal strength indicator). This paper builds on past experiences where RSSI values from beams sent in different directions were compared [1]. There relative values of RSSI were measured but herein we go

Diversity-Valuing Signals: The Strength of Specificity
Academy of Management ProceedingsWhen is a corporate diversity statement beneficial to an organization’s employer reputation? Do organizations see more benefits from more specific diversity statements, or from being diversity-valuing in non-diversity-valuing industries as a way to stand out from the crowd?

A Usability Study for Signal Strength Based Localisation
2015The Global Positioning System (GPS) may be one of the largest technological advances of the human beings. This technology became an essential component of most vehicles including airplanes, cars and ships. This device can be used anywhere around the world. While GPS was made for outdoors, there are major problems about indoor localisation.

Signaling the Strength of a Market Entrant [PDF]
This article belongs to the game theoretic and information economics literature dealing with the problem of signaling in the context of game theoretical models of entry into the industry. As opposed to the majority of literature we consider the situation of asymmetric information where the private information belongs to the entrant.
