Mobile Laser Scanning Data Collected under a Forest Canopy with GNSS/INS-Positioned Systems: Possibilities of Processability Improvements

open access: yesRemote Sensing
GNSS/INS-based positioning must be revised for forest mapping, especially inside the forest. This study deals with the issue of the processability of GNSS/INS-positioned MLS data collected in the forest environment.

An underground positioning algorithm of offset error correction based on RSSI

open access: yesGong-kuang zidonghua, 2017
In view of problems that the weighted centroid algorithm based on RSSI would appear error of three-side measuring area selection, only use distances between nodes to measure influence of beacon nodes, but neglect standard deviations of errors in every ...

Discrimination of global-motion signal strength

open access: yesVision Research, 1998
The ability of observers to discriminate differences in global-motion-signal strength (that is the proportion of coherently moving dots in a field of randomly moving dots) was determined for both first and second-order stimuli. Observers could accurately discriminate differences in signal intensity for all reference signal levels tested; 20-100%.

European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline and EXPeRT Recommendations for the Diagnosis and Management of Gastroenteropancreatic Neuroendocrine Neoplasms in Children and Adolescents

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Pediatric gastroenteropancreatic neuroendocrine neoplasms (GEP‐NENs) are extremely rare and clinically heterogeneous. Management has largely been extrapolated from adult practice. This European Standard Clinical Practice Guideline (ESCP), developed by the EXPeRT network in collaboration with adult NEN experts, provides (adult) evidence ...

Improving QoS Routing in Hybrid Wireless Mesh Networks, Using Cross-Layer Interaction and MAC Scheduling

open access: yesCybernetics and Information Technologies, 2015
Delivering Quality of Services (QoS) for cooperative Wireless Mesh Networks (WMN) is an important issue when enabling heterogeneous wireless technologies on the client side.

UHF television and the signal strength handicap [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Communications Magazine, 1981
The disparate properties of the UHF and VHF bands have produced what has become known as the "UHF handicap" - UHF television (TV) signals are more difficult to receive than VHF signals and therefore are not as significantly viewed. There are at least three possible types of handicaps that contribute to the disadvantage faced by UHF. First, there is the

Modeling signal strength of body-worn devices [PDF]

open access: yesIEEE Local Computer Network Conference, 2010
Body-wearable devices for physiological monitoring are fast becoming a reality — by 2014, 420 million wearable wireless devices are expected to be in use, of which 90% will be for sports and fitness applications. We envisage the use of ultra-lightweight wearable devices for monitoring athletes in field sports such as soccer for quantifying, assessing ...

Hospitalization Through Families’ Eyes: Comparing Inpatient Care Quality for Children With Sickle Cell Disease and Cystic Fibrosis in Canada

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Sickle cell disease (SCD) is a chronic, inherited hemoglobinopathy that requires frequent hospitalization for disease‐related complications. Canadian data on inpatient care is limited. This study compared caregiver‐reported hospital experiences of children with SCD to those with cystic fibrosis (CF), a chronic, autosomal recessive ...

Signal strength based indoor geolocation

open access: yes2002 IEEE International Conference on Communications. Conference Proceedings. ICC 2002 (Cat. No.02CH37333), 2003
We have investigated the indoor geolocation based on signal strength modeling. Linear, compensated linear, and multiple regression methods have been applied to set up signal strength models by using simulated data. We have also analyzed this modeling method to better understand the relation between the location error and the signal strength error. Some

Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We
