The Agencies of the European Union: A Glimmer of Hope for Enlargement?
Abstract In recent years, the process of EU enlargement has become increasingly difficult. The longer the process drags on and the less likely accession appears, the more the candidate states are discouraged and the less influential the EU becomes. A different approach to integration must therefore be used.

ABSTRACT Judges seek to maximize their own utility, like everyone else. Their goals include job security and promotion. Federal judges lack the electoral incentives that often drive state judges, but they could audition for promotion. I test whether they audition for promotion in their criminal sentencing.

Why do firms strategically delay payments of corporate loans?
Abstract Firms may prefer to delay some loan payments while continuing to service others because of lender and loan characteristics. I explore the impact of bank‐level and bank‐firm‐level indicators on the strategic delay behaviors of nonfinancial corporations. Three factors play a key role in their strategic delay decisions.
