Effect of Sildenafil Citrate on Postprandial Gallbladder Motility

Southern Medical Journal, 2006
Sildenafil stimulates the nitric oxide-cyclic guanosine monophosphate (NO-cGMP) pathway through inhibition of type 5 phosphodiesterase. NO-cGMP pathway causes smooth muscle relaxation. The aim of this study is to evaluate the effects of sildenafil on gallbladder motility.Twenty healthy male volunteers (21-35 years old) participated in this randomized ...

SILDENAFIL CITRATE AFTER RADICAL RETROPUBIC PROSTATECTOMY

Journal of Urology, 1999
Erectile dysfunction continues to be a significant problem for men after radical retropubic prostatectomy despite nerve sparing techniques. Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) has proved effective for erectile dysfunction in many men. We determine the efficacy of sildenafil in men with erectile dysfunction after radical retropubic prostatectomy and examine ...

FIA of sildenafil citrate using UV-detection

Journal of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis, 2001
A flow injection analysis (FIA) of sildenafil citrate (SLD) using UV detection is described in this study. The best solvent system was found to be consisting of 0.2 M phosphate buffer at pH 8 having 10% MeOH. A flow rate of 1 ml. min(-1) was pumped and active material was detected at 292 nm.

Sildenafil Citrate Ingestion in a Pediatric Patient

Pediatric Emergency Care, 2004
Sildenafil citrate is the first FDA-approved oral agent for male erectile dysfunction. Common adverse effects include flushing, headache, and dyspepsia, although more serious side effects have been reported. Because of its specific therapeutic indication, sildenafil toxicity has been limited almost exclusively to adults. We report a symptomatic case of

[Effects of sildenafil citrate on mice hearing].

Zhonghua er bi yan hou tou jing wai ke za zhi = Chinese journal of otorhinolaryngology head and neck surgery, 2014
The purpose of this investigation was to study the effects of the Sildenafil citrate on mice hearing.Seven-week-old adult male Kunming mice were used. The mice were randomly divided into four groups with 10 mice in each group.Sildenafil groups were orally administered daily with sildenafil [0.1 mg/(kg·d), 1 mg/(kg·d), 10 mg/(kg·d)] and control group ...

Effect of sildenafil citrate (viagra) on the ocular circulation

American Journal of Ophthalmology, 2001
Sildenafil citrate induces vasodilation by enhancing the smooth muscle relaxant effects of nitric oxide. We have previously reported that nitrate compounds, a different group of nitric oxide-mediated vasodilators used mainly for the treatment of ischemic cardiac diseases, produce an increase in optic nerve head circulation and retinal venous ...

Sildenafil Citrate and Fetal Outcome in Pregnant Rats

Fetal Diagnosis and Therapy, 2006
Objective: To determine the effects of sildenafil citrate on fetal growth in maternal rats exposed to hypoxia. Methods: Timed pregnant rats were randomized to either hypoxia or control on gestational days (GD) 18–20, and received either sildenafil (45 mg/kg) orally every 12 h on GD 18–21 or an equal volume of ...

Sildenafil citrate (Viagra) complexes with bivalent ions

Journal of Pharmaceutical Sciences, 2006
The interaction of Ca(2+)-ions with sildenafil citrate (Viagra) leads to the precipitation of a new polymorph variety of sildenafil base. Under the same conditions, Mg(2+), Zn(2+), and Cd(2+) ions form structurally related crystalline complexes of the composition Me(2+)C(28)H(34)N(6)O(11)S. Lattice parameters have been determined showing that magnesium

The discovery and development of Viagra® (sildenafil citrate)

2004
Sildenafil citrate (UK-92,480, Viagra®) is a selective inhibitor of phosphodiesterase type 5 (PDE5) and acts on the nitric oxide (NO)/cyclic guanosine monophosphate (cGMP) pathway [1, 2]. UK-92,480 was first synthesised in the Sandwich laboratories of Pfizer Ltd, UK in 1989, and resulted from a discovery programme aimed at developing a selective ...
