Adsorption of Forever Chemical Pollutants: The Physical Chemistry of PFAS Near Surfaces

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Current adsorption‐based remediation techniques for removing per‐ and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS) from water are limited by knowledge gaps on PFAS behavior near solid surfaces. This review provides a state of the art on theoretical and experimental aspects of PFAS adsorption.

Metal‐free Hydrogen Generation from Seawater and Silicon Waste: A Circular Approach

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Hydrogen was rapidly generated directly from untreated seawater and polymeric Si waste without any transition metal catalyst. The in situ generated polymeric cross‐linked Si resin was completely depolymerized under mild conditions into chloro‐silane monomers.

Degradation Pathways of Silicon‐Based Anodes in Lithium‐Ion Batteries

open access: yesAdvanced Energy Materials, EarlyView.
Silicon‐based anodes undergo degradation through five primary pathways: (1) mechanical and structural deterioration of the active material, (2) loss of electrode integrity and electrical contact, (3) mechanical instability of the solid electrolyte interphase (SEI), characterized by repetitive fracture and deformation, (4) chemical instability of the ...

Synthesis of porous silicates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The issues of importance and future concern in the synthesis of porous silicates and porous materials that contain a large fraction of silica, e.g. zeolites and other crystalline molecular sieves, are reviewed. The thermodynamics of zeolite synthesis are

The Detection of Crystalline Silicates in Ultraluminous Infrared Galaxies

open access: yes, 2006
International audienceSilicates are an important component of interstellar dust, and the structure of these grains (amorphous or crystalline) is sensitive to the local physical conditions. We have studied the infrared spectra of a sample of ultraluminous
