Phase Evolution and Compositional Homogenization in Mechanochemically Activated High‐Entropy Manganite Perovskites

open access: yesJournal of the American Ceramic Society, Volume 109, Issue 8, August 2026.
ABSTRACT The synthesis of single‐phase La0.35Gd0.35Ca0.3(Mn0.5Co0.1Cu0.1Fe0.1Ni0.1Mg0.1)O3 high‐entropy perovskite oxides was investigated using mechanochemical activation followed by thermal treatments. The influence of milling time (1–150 h) and post‐milling annealing temperature on phase formation, compositional homogeneity, and structural evolution

Influence of Surface Finish on the Tribological Performance of AlTiBN Coatings Deposited on Forming Tools

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, Volume 28, Issue 14, 22 July 2026.
Aluminum and nitride coatings are used in industry because they are hard, resist wear, and protect against oxidation. Adding boron can improve friction behavior and other properties. This study tests coatings on surfaces with different finishes. Results show smoother surfaces perform better, while rough ones wear faster, although coatings can reduce ...

Influence of Backside Surface and Subsurface Damage in Gallium Nitride Wafers on Facet Quality and Violet‐Emitting Laser Diode Performance

open access: yesphysica status solidi (a), Volume 223, Issue 14, 22 July 2026.
Backside thinning techniques critically influence GaN laser performance. Compared to lapping, grinding reduces subsurface damage depth fivefold and lowers wafer bow, while mechanical polishing eliminates subsurface damage entirely. These improvements directly translate to smoother cleaved facets and a nearly 40% reduction in laser threshold current ...
