Abstract There is a growing body of literature that suggests riverine fish are some of the most threatened taxa on a global scale. Similarly, the literature suggests less‐altered tributaries may offer refugia for large‐river specialists. The greater Mississippi River basin, including the Missouri River system, has been subjected to anthropogenic ...

Bone tissues of Triassic taxa reveal life history signals consistent with climatic variation across southern Pangea, spanning present‐day Brazil, Argentina, Zimbabwe, and India. Slower growth patterns within the Zimbabwean assemblage suggest a comparatively more arid intracontinental environment than those closer to the coast. Artwork by Andrey Atuchin.

Abstract In this paper, we describe Lepocinclis loricata sp. nov. (Phacaceae), a sessile loricate euglenid that differs from all known loricate taxa by its unique combination of the presence of a lorica, monad morphology, sessile habit, and phylogenetic position within the Phacaceae. Populations of this species inhabit two turbid, silt‐rich waterbodies,
