Silver Diamine Fluoride Staining With Potassium Iodide: A Prospective Cohort Study

open access: yesInternational Dental Journal
: Background: Staining after silver diamine fluoride (SDF) treatment limits treatment acceptability but is also used as a clinical indicator of lesion stability. Potassium iodide (KI) has been postulated to modify SDF staining. Understanding the natural

Nanolayer‐Encapsulated Stretchable Liquid‐Metal Sheets for Thermal Management

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A stretchable liquid metal sheet with both high thermal conductivity and mechanical flexibility is developed. Its trilayer structure, comprising copper‐particle‐dispersed gallium liquid metal encapsulated by styrene‐butadiene‐styrene nanosheets, shows 40.4 W m−1 K−1 conductivity, elongation exceeding 200%, and retention of 96% of its initial ...

Na-Ag Ion-Exchanged Glass Substrates for Plasmon-Enhanced Fluorescence Imaging of Neutrophils

open access: yesSensors
Here, we study the fluorescence response of neutrophils stained with the wheat germ agglutinin Alexa Fluor 594 dye when the cells are placed on plasmonic nanoparticle substrates.

Dual‐Layer Living Hydrogel Enables On‐Demand Delivery of Phages and Probiotics for Synergistic Wound Infection Therapy

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
A dual‐layer living hydrogel, ProΦGel, integrates bacteriophages and probiotics for synergistic wound infection therapy. The outer gelatin‐based matrix releases phages on demand in response to P. aeruginosa infections, while inner alginate beads sustain probiotic delivery.

Pneumocystis jirovecii in Respiratory Tract of Immunocompromised Patients: A Study in a Tertiary Care Center in Bangalore, South India

open access: yesJournal of Medical Microbiology and Infectious Diseases
Introduction: Pneumocystis jirovecii pneumonia (PCP) remains a significant cause of pneumonia among immunocompromised individuals, despite a decline in prevalence with the advent of antiretroviral therapy (ART) for Human Immunodeficiency Virus (HIV ...

Bioinspired Stabilization of Fluorescent Au@SiO2 Tracers for Multimodal Biological Imaging

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates a bioinspired stabilization strategy for fluorescent gold‐silica nanoparticles. Inspired by natural biosilica maturation, high‐temperature calcination transforms the silica shells, preventing dissolution in cell culture media and intracellular environments.

Karyotyping and localization of genes on the chromosomes of the sea urchins, Strongylocentrotus drobachiensis and Strongylocentrotus purpuratus [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
The purple sea urchin, Strongylocentrotus purpuratus , is an important model for probing gene interactions during animal development and is the only non-chordate deuterostome for which a complete genome sequence is available.
