Increased Risk of Sarcomas in Children With Congenital Anomalies: Findings From the Genetic Overlap Between Anomalies and Cancer in Kids (GOBACK) Registry Linkage Study

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Background Pediatric sarcomas are a heterogeneous group of tumors that contribute disproportionately to cancer mortality in children. Although congenital anomalies are among the strongest known risk factors for childhood cancer, the risk of specific sarcoma subtypes among affected individuals has not yet been thoroughly evaluated. Procedure We

Similarity is as similarity does? A critical inquiry into the effect of thematic association on similarity

open access: yesCognition, 2018
Leading theories of psychological similarity are based on the degree of match in semantic content between compared cases (i.e., shared features, low dimensional distance, alignable relations). Broader forms of semantic relatedness such as the degree of association between cases (e.g., egg and spatula) are generally not considered to contribute to ...

Discovering latent topical structure by second-order similarity analysis

open access: yes, 2011
This is the post-print of the Article - Copyright @ 2011 ASIS&TDocument similarity models are typically derived from a term-document vector space representation by comparing all vector-pairs using some similarity measure.

Supporting Survivor‐Centered Care Through Digital Health Integration

open access: yesPediatric Blood &Cancer, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Survivors of childhood cancer face barriers to receiving guideline‐based, long‐term follow‐up care. Two digital tools, Passport for Care (PFC) and Cancer SurvivorLink (SurvivorLink), address complementary gaps by enabling tailored survivorship care plan (SCP) generation, updating, storage, and sharing.

Rove beetles (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) in an apple orchard

open access: yesPlant Protection Science, 2012
Many rove beetle (Coleoptera: Staphylinidae) species are carnivorous. Despite their positive role in the biological control of agricultural arthropod pests rove beetles are relatively poorly studied in general, and little is known about their habitat ...

Similarity and block similarity

open access: yesLinear Algebra and its Applications, 1994
This paper studies the algebraic properties of a pair of matrices. More specifically, it studies the similarity of matrix pairs. Some equivalent characterizations of the block similarity of matrix pairs are given. A survey of some generalizations of properties of the invariants of similarity to the invariants of block similarity is also presented.

Dietary Protein Intake and Peritoneal Protein Losses in Peritoneal Dialysis Patients

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction Peritoneal dialysis (PD) patients lose protein in their waste dialysate, potentially increasing their risk for malnutrition. We wished to determine whether there was any association between losses and dietary protein intake (DPI). Methods DPI was assessed from 24‐h dietary recall using Nutrics software.

Similarity Principle and its Acoustical Verification

open access: yes, 2022
This study finds a similarity principle the waves emanated from the same source are similar to each other as long as two wave receivers are close enough to each other the closer to each other the wave receivers are the more similar to each other the ...
