EDNRB‐dependent endothelin signaling reduces proliferation and promotes proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition in gliomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Glioma cells mainly express the endothelin receptor EDNRB, while EDNRA is restricted to a perivascular tumor subpopulation. Endothelin signaling reduces glioma cell proliferation while promoting migration and a proneural‐to‐mesenchymal transition associated with poor prognosis. This pathway activates Ca2+, K+, ERK, and STAT3 signalings and is regulated

Similarity of Overlap Functions and Robustness of Fuzzy Reasoning

open access: yesAxioms
The overlap function has been extensively utilized across various fields. In this paper, we introduce the concepts of the similarity and δ-equality of overlap functions to measure the degree of similarity between two overlap functions.

Keratin 19 as a prognostic marker and contributing factor of metastasis and chemoresistance in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Keratin 19 (KRT19) is overexpressed in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer with high levels of Kallikrein‐related peptidases (KLK) 4–7 and is associated with poor survival. In vivo analyses demonstrate that elevated KRT19 increases peritoneal tumour burden.

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Parallelizing Set Similarity Joins.

open access: yes, 2022
One of today's major challenges in data science is to compare and relate data of similar nature. Using the join operation known from relational databases could help solving this problem. Given a collection of records, the join operation finds all pairs of records, which fulfill a user-chosen predicate.

Scalable Similarity Joins of Tokenized Strings [PDF]

open access: yes2019 IEEE 35th International Conference on Data Engineering (ICDE), 2019
This work tackles the problem of fuzzy joining of strings that naturally tokenize into meaningful substrings, e.g., full names. Tokenized-string joins have several established applications in the context of data integration and cleaning. This work is primarily motivated by fraud detection, where attackers slightly modify tokenized strings, e.g., names ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

Who joins counter-hegemonic IGOs? Early and late members of the China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank

open access: yesResearch & Politics, 2018
What makes states join intergovernmental organizations intended to challenge a hegemon? The China-led Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB), founded in June 2015, targets the primacy of the US-led Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the Asia-Pacific ...

Efficient exact similarity joins

open access: yes, 2010
Similarity joins play an important role in many application areas, such as near duplicate Web page detection, data integration and cleaning, record linkage, and pattern recognition. Consequently, there has been much interest in developing efficient algorithms for this fundamental operation.
