Modeling uncertainties associated with decision-making algorithms based on similarity measures of possibility belief interval-valued fuzzy hypersoft setting [PDF]

open access: yesNeutrosophic Sets and Systems
Hypersoft sets (HSSs) were initiated as an extension of soft sets (SSs) to address real-life scenarios involving multiple disjoint sets with di erent traits.

Evaluating molecular similarity measures: Do similarity measures reflect electronic structure properties?

open access: yesJournal of Chemical Information and Modeling
The rapid adoption of big data, machine learning (ML), and generative artificial intelligence (AI) in chemical discovery has heightened the importance of quantifying molecular similarity. Molecular similarity, commonly assessed as the distance between molecular fingerprints, is integral to applications such as database curation, diversity analysis, and

Measuring Global Similarity Between Texts [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
We propose a new similarity measure between texts which, contrary to the current state-of-the-art approaches, takes a global view of the texts to be compared. We have implemented a tool to compute our textual distance and conducted experiments on several corpuses of texts.

Sequence determinants of RNA G‐quadruplex unfolding by Arg‐rich regions

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
We show that Arg‐rich peptides selectively unfold RNA G‐quadruplexes, but not RNA stem‐loops or DNA/RNA duplexes. This length‐dependent activity is inhibited by acidic residues and is conserved among SR and SR‐related proteins (SRSF1, SRSF3, SRSF9, U1‐70K, and U2AF1).

Impact of trigonometric similarity measures for pythagorean fuzzy sets and their applications [PDF]

open access: yesYugoslav Journal of Operations Research
In fuzzy set theory, the similarity measure is a significant device that measures the degree of correlation between two objects. An extension to intuitionistic fuzzy sets (IFS), Pythagorean fuzzy sets (PFS) have been widely employed in numerous ...

Additive similarity measures

open access: yesDiscrete Applied Mathematics, 2003
Following the approach of Tversky's contrast model, similarity measures are introduced as order-preserving maps from specific ordered sets into the non-negative reals. The analysis of this class of functions gives rise to the definition of additive similarity measures that induce a matroid on their domain. Here the author gives a representation of this

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

PICALM::MLLT10 translocated leukemia

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
This comprehensive review of PICALM::MLLT10 translocated acute leukemia provides an in‐depth review of the structure and function of CALM, AF10, and the fusion oncoprotein (1). The multifaceted molecular mechanisms of oncogenesis, including nucleocytoplasmic shuttling (2), epigenetic modifications (3), and disruption of endocytosis (4), are then ...

Cell wall target fragment discovery using a low‐cost, minimal fragment library

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
LoCoFrag100 is a fragment library made up of 100 different compounds. Similarity between the fragments is minimized and 10 different fragments are mixed into a single cocktail, which is soaked to protein crystals. These crystals are analysed by X‐ray crystallography, revealing the binding modes of the bound fragment ligands.

Inhibiting stearoyl‐CoA desaturase suppresses bone metastatic prostate cancer by modulating cellular stress, mTOR signaling, and DNA damage response

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Bone metastasis in prostate cancer (PCa) patients is a clinical hurdle due to the poor understanding of the supportive bone microenvironment. Here, we identify stearoyl‐CoA desaturase (SCD) as a tumor‐promoting enzyme and potential therapeutic target in bone metastatic PCa.
