Generalized Central Limit Theorem and Renormalization Group

open access: yes, 2010
We introduce a simple instance of the renormalization group transformation in the Banach space of probability densities. By changing the scaling of the renormalized variables we obtain, as fixed points of the transformation, the L\'evy strictly stable ...

Optimal Impulse Control of a Simple Reparable System in a Nonreflexive Banach Space

open access: yes, 2017
We discuss the problem of optimal impulse control representing the preventive maintenance of a simple reparable system. The system model is governed by coupled transport and integro-differential equations in a nonreflexive Banach space. The objective of this paper is to construct nonnegative impulse control inputs at given system running times that ...

Degree theory for 4‐dimensional asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons

open access: yesCommunications on Pure and Applied Mathematics, EarlyView.
Abstract We develop a new degree theory for 4‐dimensional, asymptotically conical gradient expanding solitons. Our theory implies the existence of gradient expanding solitons that are asymptotic to any given cone over S3$S^3$ with non‐negative scalar curvature. We also obtain a similar existence result for cones whose link is diffeomorphic to S3/Γ$S^3/\

On asphericity of convex bodies in linear normed spaces

open access: yesJournal of Inequalities and Applications, 2018
In 1960, Dvoretzky proved that in any infinite dimensional Banach space X and for any ϵ>0 $\epsilon> 0$ there exists a subspace L of X of arbitrary large dimension ϵ-iometric to Euclidean space.

A reinterpretation of set differential equations as differential equations in a Banach space

open access: yes, 2015
Set differential equations are usually formulated in terms of the Hukuhara differential, which implies heavy restrictions for the nature of a solution.

Approximation of Dirac operators with δ‐shell potentials in the norm resolvent sense, II: Quantitative results

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, EarlyView.
Abstract This paper is devoted to the approximation of two‐ and three‐dimensional Dirac operators HV∼δΣ$H_{\widetilde{V} \delta _\Sigma }$ with combinations of electrostatic and Lorentz scalar δ$\delta$‐shell interactions in the norm resolvent sense. Relying on results from Behrndt, Holzmann, and Stelzer‐Landauer [Math. Nachr.

The compactum of a semi-simple commutative Banach algebra

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1984
Let A be a commutative semi-simple Banach algebra such that the set consisting of finite sums of elements from minimal left ideals coincides with that of finite sums of elements from minimal right ideals. Let S(A) (the socle of A) denote this set.

The Ran-Reurings fixed point theorem without partial order: a simple proof

open access: yes, 2014
The purpose of this note is to generalize the celebrated Ran and Reurings fixed point theorem to the setting of a space with a binary relation that is only transitive (and not necessarily a partial order) and a relation-complete metric.

Equivalences of Nonlinear Higher Order Fractional Differential Equations With Integral Equations

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, Volume 48, Issue 6, Page 6930-6942, April 2025.
ABSTRACT Equivalences of initial value problems (IVPs) of both nonlinear higher order (Riemann–Liouville type) fractional differential equations (FDEs) and Caputo FDEs with the corresponding integral equations are studied in this paper. It is proved that the nonlinearities in the FDEs can be L1$$ {L}^1 $$‐Carathéodory with suitable conditions.

Semi-simplicity of a proper weak H*-algebra

open access: yesInternational Journal of Mathematics and Mathematical Sciences, 1992
A weak right H*-algebra is a Banach algebra A which is a Hilbert space and which has a dense subset Dr with the property that for each x in Dr there exists xr such that (yx,z)=(y,zxr) for all y, z in A.
