Rett syndrome: a complex disorder with simple roots

Nature Reviews Genetics, 2015
Rett syndrome (RTT) is a severe neurological disorder caused by mutations in the X-linked gene MECP2 (methyl-CpG-binding protein 2). Two decades of research have fostered the view that MeCP2 is a multifunctional chromatin protein that integrates diverse aspects of neuronal biology.

Root Vectors for Geometrically Simple Multiparameter Eigenvalues

Integral Equations and Operator Theory, 2004
An \(n\)-parameter system (\(n\geq 2\)) of the form \(\lambda\) \[ W_i(\lambda)=\sum_{j=0}^n A_{ij}\lambda_j,\quad i\in N, \] is considered. Here \(A_{ij}\) are bounded linear operators acting on a separable Hilbert space \(H_i\) over the complex numbers, \(A_{i0}\) are closed densely defined operators with domain in \(H_i\), \(\lambda =(\lambda_0 ...

Simple square-root extractor using op amps

2008 International Conference on Control, Automation and Systems, 2008
This paper presents the simple and inexpensive method to implement a square-root extractor for voltage input signal. The proposed extractor is based on the use of two operational amplifiers (op amps) as only active elements. The proposed technique employs the op amp supply-current sensing to achieve an inherently quadratic characteristic.

Simple Square-Rooting Voltage-to-Frequency Converter

2008 IEEE International Conference on Electron Devices and Solid-State Circuits, 2008
This paper presents a simple method based on commercially available devices for realizing the square-rooting voltage-to-frequency converter (VFC). The output frequency is proportional to the square root of the input voltage signal. The realization technique employs an operational transconductance amplifier (OTA)-based square root extractor and a NOR ...

A Method for Nonlinear Equation's Simple Roots

2010 First ACIS International Symposium on Cryptography, and Network Security, Data Mining and Knowledge Discovery, E-Commerce and Its Applications, and Embedded Systems, 2010
In this paper, we present the convergence behavior of a modified Newton's method based on Simpson integral rule. The convergence properties of this method for solving equations which have simple roots have been discussed and it has been shown that it converges cubically to simple roots.

A Simple Test for Unit Root Bilinearity [PDF]

open access: possible, 2002
The paper introduces a t-ratio type test for detecting bilinearity in a stochastic unit root process. It appears that such process is a realistic approximation for many economic and financial time series. It is shown that, under the null of no bilinearity, the tests statistics are asymptotically normally distributed. Proofs of this asymptotic normality
