Repurposing Purine Analog Antivirals to Modulate Serum Uric Acid: Evidence From Real-World Data. [PDF]

open access: yesClin Transl Sci
ABSTRACT Xanthine oxidase (XO) inhibitors remain the standard pharmacologic therapy for hyperuricemia. However, additional enzymatic components of the purine degradation pathway may contribute to uric acid synthesis. Guanine deaminase (GD) catalyzes the conversion of guanine to xanthine, providing substrate for downstream oxidation by XO.

Hierarchical Optimization of the As‐Rigid‐As‐Possible Energy

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract The As‐Rigid‐As‐Possible (ARAP) energy [SA07] has become a versatile ingredient in various geometry processing and machine learning methods. The classic method for its minimization is a block coordinate descent, alternating between local rotation estimation and a global linear solve, which converges slowly for large problem instances.

Scalable Computation of Topological Abstractions for Scalar Data

open access: yesComputer Graphics Forum, EarlyView.
Abstract Topological data analysis has become an important tool for large scale scalar data analysis and visualization, efficiently extracting the inherent structure and features of interest of the data. However, with growing dataset sizes and complexity, it is increasingly becoming infeasible to compute topological abstractions of interest in serial ...

Epidemiology of nummular eczema – methodological approaches and outcomes from nationwide claims data analyses

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary Background and Objectives Nummular eczema (NE) is a chronic skin condition with limited epidemiologic data. This study estimates its prevalence, incidence and severity in Germany. Methods A cross‐sectional analysis (2016–2022) used German insurance claims data to identify NE cases (ICD‐10 L30.0) and assess severity (hospitalization, work ...

Alternative methods for representing the inverse of linear programming basis matrices

open access: yes, 1988
Methods for representing the inverse of Linear Programming (LP) basis matrices are closely related to techniques for solving a system of sparse unsymmetric linear equations by direct methods.

S3 guideline diagnostics and therapy in alopecia areata – Part 2: Therapy, psychosocial and cosmetic support

open access: yesJDDG: Journal der Deutschen Dermatologischen Gesellschaft, EarlyView.
Summary This second part of the S3 guideline on the diagnosis and treatment of alopecia areata (AA), presents key recommendations on topical and systemic therapy, quality of life and support services. The first part of the guideline, published separately, covers the definition and content of epidemiology and diagnosis as well as comorbidities, risk and

Rate-compatible LDPC Codes based on Primitive Polynomials and Golomb Rulers [PDF]

open access: yes
We introduce and study a family of rate-compatible Low-Density Parity-Check (LDPC) codes. The design of these codes starts from simplex codes, defined by parity-check matrices having a simple form stemming from the coefficients of a primitive polynomial.

Coupling of both a transactivation module and a double‐stranded DNA‐binding domain boosts Cas12i3 variant‐based cytosine and adenine editing in plants

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Plant Biology, EarlyView.
Fusions of a transactivation module and a double‐stranded DNA‐binding domain produced effective Cas12i3 variant‐based cytosine and adenine base editors, with improved C‐to‐T and A‐to‐G base editing efficiency and expanded editing window. Generated herbicide‐resistant rice germplasm by using these base editors demonstrates their potential for precise ...

Iteratively Maximum Likelihood Decodable Spherical Codes

open access: yes, 1984
In this dissertation a class of spherical codes, called iteratively maximum likelihood decodable (IMLD) spherical codes, is introduced and investigated. An efficient iterative decoding algorithm for decoding such codes is described. When decoding an IMLD
