A fractional order SIR epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate

open access: yesAdvances in Difference Equations, 2018
In this paper, a fractional order SIR epidemic model with nonlinear incidence rate is presented and analyzed. First, we prove the global existence, positivity, and boundedness of solutions.

Simulation of valveless micropump and mode analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
In this work, a 3-D simulation is performed to study for the solid-fluid coupling effect driven by piezoelectric materials and utilizes asymmetric obstacles to control the flow direction. The result of simulation is also verified.

Evidence of Critical Balance in Kinetic Alfven Wave Turbulence Simulations

open access: yes, 2011
A numerical simulation of kinetic plasma turbulence is performed to assess the applicability of critical balance to kinetic, dissipation scale turbulence. The analysis is performed in the frequency domain to obviate complications inherent in performing a

Structural instability impairs function of the UDP‐xylose synthase 1 Ile181Asn variant associated with short‐stature genetic syndrome in humans

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The Ile181Asn variant of human UDP‐xylose synthase (hUXS1), associated with a short‐stature genetic syndrome, has previously been reported as inactive. Our findings demonstrate that Ile181Asn‐hUXS1 retains catalytic activity similar to the wild‐type but exhibits reduced stability, a looser oligomeric state, and an increased tendency to precipitate ...

A New Perspective for Urban Development Boundary Delineation Based on the MCR Model and CA-Markov Model

open access: yesLand, 2022
In order to control the development of urban space, it is important to explore scientific methods to provide a reference for regional territorial space planning. On the basis of the minimum cumulative resistance (MCR) model and the cellular automaton (CA)

GERT simulation program for GERT network analysis [PDF]

open access: yes, 1968
GERT Simulation Program simulates GERT networks to obtain statistics on specified nodes of the network. It performs sampling experiments to determine which branches of the network are taken and how long it takes to traverse a branch of the ...

Modeling hepatic fibrosis in TP53 knockout iPSC‐derived human liver organoids

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study developed iPSC‐derived human liver organoids with TP53 gene knockout to model human liver fibrosis. These organoids showed elevated myofibroblast activation, early disease markers, and advanced fibrotic hallmarks. The use of profibrotic differentiation medium further amplified the fibrotic signature seen in the organoids.

Visual cavity analysis in molecular simulations [PDF]

open access: yesBMC Bioinformatics, 2013
Molecular surfaces provide a useful mean for analyzing interactions between biomolecules; such as identification and characterization of ligand binding sites to a host macromolecule. We present a novel technique, which extracts potential binding sites, represented by cavities, and characterize them by 3D graphs and by amino acids. The binding sites are
