Simultaneous Fitting of Absorption Spectra and Their Second Derivatives for an Improved Analysis of Protein Infrared Spectra [PDF]
Molecules, 2015 Infrared spectroscopy is a powerful tool in protein science due to its sensitivity to changes in secondary structure or conformation. In order to take advantage of the full power of infrared spectroscopy in structural studies of proteins, complex band ...

Simultaneous fitting of genomic-BLUP and Bayes-C components in a genomic prediction model [PDF]
Genetics Selection Evolution, 2017 Background The rapid adoption of genomic selection is due to two key factors: availability of both high-throughput dense genotyping and statistical methods to estimate and predict breeding values.

Multi-modal mass-asymmetric fission of 178Pt from simultaneous mass-kinetic energy fitting
Physics Letters B, 2023 The observation of mass-asymmetric fission in neutron-deficient 180Hg dramatically expanded the region of mass-asymmetric fission found across the nuclide chart, and has led to intense experimental and theoretical investigations into the fission of sub ...

First measurements of second-order frequency conversion phase-matching conditions in the new CTAS crystal [PDF]
EPJ Web of Conferences, 2023 We report that Ca3TaAl3Si2O14 is a positive uniaxial crystal and provides second-order frequency conversion. Indeed, we performed direct measurements of phase-matching conditions for second-harmonic generation and sum-frequency generation up to 3.5 µm ...

BMC Bioinformatics, 2022 Background The initial step in comparing mathematical models to experimental data is to do a fit. This process can be complicated when either the mathematical models are not analytically solvable (e.g. because of nonlinear differential equations) or when

Capturing Outlines of Planar Generic Images by Simultaneous Curve Fitting and Sub-division [PDF]
Journal of Artificial Intelligence and Data Mining, 2020 In this paper, a new technique has been designed to capture the outline of 2D shapes using cubic B´ezier curves. The proposed technique avoids the traditional method of optimizing the global squared fitting error and emphasizes the local control of data ...
