Measurement of Planetary Boundary Layer Winds with Scanning Doppler Lidar

open access: yesRemote Sensing, 2018
The accurate measurement of wind profiles in the planetary boundary layer (PBL) is important not only for numerical weather prediction, but also for air quality modeling.

Advances in compositional fitting of active appearance models [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
This thesis presents a detailed and complete study of compositional gradient descent (CGD) algorithms for fitting active appearance models (AAM) and advances the state-of-the-art in generative AAM fitting by incorporating: (i) novel robust ...

Cell‐cycle‐specific lesion evolution rather than inhibition of double‐strand‐break repair underpins cisplatin radiosensitization

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We analyze cisplatin–DNA adducts (CDAs) and double‐strand breaks (DSBs) in a cell‐cycle‐dependent manner. We find that CDAs form similarly across all cell cycle phases. DSBs arise only in S‐phase. CDAs might not directly impair DSB repair, but S‐phase DSB lesions evolve in the presence of CDAs and disrupt repair in G2, also causing radiosensitization ...

Evaluation of curve-fitting methods for the simultaneous determination of isoenzymes from inhibition kinetic responses [PDF]

open access: yes, 1990
This thesis describes the evaluation of nonlinear regression methods for simultaneous determinations of isoenzymes from combined, inhibition kinetic data. Simulated data are used to determine best fitting methods and optimal values for enzyme activities,

Transcriptional profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles from prebiopsy prostate cancer patients

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
RNA profiling of circulating extracellular vesicles (EVs) from blood samples of men undergoing prostate biopsy identifies transcripts associated with clinically significant prostate cancer. Integrative analysis with public tumor datasets links EV‐derived gene signatures to tumor stage and progression‐free survival, highlighting CASP3, XRCC2, and RIT1 ...

Rationalizing and Curve-Fitting Demand Data with Quasilinear Utilities [PDF]

open access: yes
In the empirical and theoretical literature a consumer's utility function is often assumed to be quasilinear. In this paper we provide necessary and sufficient conditions for testing if the consumer acts as if she is maximizing a quasilinear utility ...

Clinical performance of the urine‐based TERT promoter AbsoluteQ Digital PCR for non‐invasive detection of bladder cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
A urine‐based digital PCR assay targeting two hotspot TERT promoter variants detected bladder cancer with high sensitivity and no false positives in this case–control cohort. The streamlined AbsoluteQ workflow outperformed Sanger sequencing and supports non‐invasive molecular testing for bladder cancer detection.

Developmental programmes drive cellular plasticity, disease progression and therapy resistance in lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
This study shows that lung adenocarcinomas exploit developmental branching morphogenesis to acquire a therapy resistant basal‐like tumour cell state. This process was found to be regulated by combined TP53 loss‐of‐function and type‐I interferon signalling, identifying a novel axis for biomarker and therapeutic target discovery.

A Revisited Half-Quadratic Approach for Simultaneous Robust Fitting of Multiple Curves [PDF]

open access: yes, 2009
In this paper, we address the problem of robustly recovering several instances of a curve model from a single noisy data set with outliers. Using M-estimators revisited in a Lagrangian formalism, we derive an algorithm that we call Simultaneous Multiple ...
