Single longitudinal-mode optical phonon scattering in Ga0.47In0.53As

We show that only one of the four Raman active modes in Ga0.47In0.53As shows the required symmetry behavior for longitudinal optical (LO) phonons. An additional mode previously supposed to be LO shows mixed-mode behavior and may be disorder activated.

High-efficiency single-longitudinal-mode laser

Grating-tuned, single-longitudinal-mode, diode-pumped Nd:YVO_4 laser

Single-longitudinal-mode output as great as 1 mJ has been obtained from a grating-tuned Nd:YVO4 laser pumped by a quasi-cw laser-diode array. A simple cavity design containing a diffraction grating at a high angle of incidence has permitted the output to be tuned over a wavelength range of greater than 1 nm.

Single-longitudinal-mode Er:GGG microchip laser operating at 27  μm

We reported on a diode-end-pumped single-longitudinal-mode microchip laser using a 600-μm-thick Er:GGG crystal at ∼2.7  μm, generating a maximum output power of 50.8 mW and the maximum pulsed energy of 0.306 mJ, with repetition rates of pumping light of 300, 200, and 100 Hz, respectively. The maximum slope efficiency of the laser was 20.1%.
