Single-Mode Semiconductor Nanowire Lasers With Coupled Cavities
Semiconductor nanowires are one of the most fascinating topics over the past few decades. As miniaturized coherent light sources, semiconductor nanowires have been attracting tremendous attention in recent years for scientific and technological interest ...

Two-Segment Gain-Coupled Distributed Feedback Laser
A two-segment regrowth-free gain-coupled distributed feedback (DFB) laser monolithically integrated different gain contrast segments was proposed, realizing both wavelength-tunable (5 nm) and wavelength stabilization characteristics, controlled by a ...

Single-Mode ZBLAN Fiber Couplers [PDF]
We demonstrate single-mode ZBLAN optical fiber couplers. A controlled tapering procedure leads to coupling ratios of 5%/95% and 14%/86% at a wavelength of 2200 nm, with insertion losses of 1.6 dB and 1.8 dB, respectively.

Photons and electrons transmit information to form complex systems and networks. Phonons on the other hand, the quanta of mechanical motion, are often considered only as carriers of thermal energy. Nonetheless, their flow can also be molded in fabricated nanoscale circuits.

Optical fiber flowmeter based on a single mode-multimode-single mode structure
Single mode-Multimode-Single mode (SMS) sensors have been attracted a relevant attention because of their simple manufacturing, their capability of sensing different quantities, and their enhanced sensitivity compared to the most common fiber optic ...

We report on the properties of a thermal emitter which radiates into a single mode waveguide. We show that the maximal power of thermal radiation into a propagating single mode is limited only by the temperature of the thermal emitter and does not depend on other parameters of the waveguide.

Measuring nonclasicality of single-mode systems
A beam splitter can generate entanglement if the input field is nonclassical, e.g. squeezed. Thus, beam splitter transformation can be utilized for obtaining single-mode nonclassicality conditions from two-mode entanglement criteria. Here, we demonstrate
