MBE-grown 1550 nm wafer-fused VCSELs for large data rate and energy efficient communication

open access: yesJPhys Photonics
We report on the progress made in the development of 1550 nm vertical-cavity surface-emitting lasers (VCSELs) for data transmission applications. These lasers were grown using molecular beam epitaxy and manufactured through wafer fusion.

High-fidelity resonator-induced phase gate with single-mode squeezing

open access: yes, 2016
We propose to increase the fidelity of two-qubit resonator-induced phase gates in circuit QED by the use of narrowband single-mode squeezed drive.

Reciprocal control of viral infection and phosphoinositide dynamics

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Phosphoinositides, although scarce, regulate key cellular processes, including membrane dynamics and signaling. Viruses exploit these lipids to support their entry, replication, assembly, and egress. The central role of phosphoinositides in infection highlights phosphoinositide metabolism as a promising antiviral target.

Efficient Photon Coupling from a Diamond Nitrogen Vacancy Centre by Integration with Silica Fibre

open access: yes, 2015
A central goal in quantum information science is to efficiently interface photons with single optical modes for quantum networking and distributed quantum computing. Here, we introduce and experimentally demonstrate a compact and efficient method for the

Spatiotemporal and quantitative analyses of phosphoinositides – fluorescent probe—and mass spectrometry‐based approaches

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Fluorescent probes allow dynamic visualization of phosphoinositides in living cells (left), whereas mass spectrometry provides high‐sensitivity, isomer‐resolved quantitation (right). Their synergistic use captures complementary aspects of lipid signaling. This review illustrates how these approaches reveal the spatiotemporal regulation and quantitative

120 W Efficient Single Frequency Amplification Based on Wide Tunable 1018 nm DBR Seed Source

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal
High-power, widely tunable 1018 nm single-frequency fiber lasers and their harmonics play a crucial role in Rydberg microwave measurement applications. This study focuses on the development of a high-power 1018 nm single-frequency narrow-linewidth fiber ...

Refractometry With a Tailored Sensitivity Based on a Single-Mode-Capillary-Single-Mode Fiber Structure

open access: yesIEEE Photonics Journal, 2017
We demonstrate a simple structure for the refractive index sensing by splicing a segment of capillary with two segments of single-mode fibers (SMFs). By selecting appropriate splicing parameters, two mode coupling regions can be formed with tapered air ...

By dawn or dusk—how circadian timing rewrites bacterial infection outcomes

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The circadian clock shapes immune function, yet its influence on infection outcomes is only beginning to be understood. This review highlights how circadian timing alters host responses to the bacterial pathogens Salmonella enterica, Listeria monocytogenes, and Streptococcus pneumoniae revealing that the effectiveness of immune defense depends not only

Toward a compact fibered squeezing parametric source

open access: yes, 2018
In this work, we investigate three different compact fibered systems generating vacuum squeezing that involve optical cavities limited by the end surface of a fiber and by a curved mirror and containing a thin parametric crystal.
