High power (60mW) single frequency erbium:ytterbium codoped fiber laser
The characteristics of a high power Er3+:Yb3+ single frequency fiber laser pumped at 980nm are reported. The device gives 60mW output power with RIN 10MHz and linewidth 500kHz.

Gain equalization of a six-mode-group ring core multimode EDFA
We propose a 6-mode-group ring core multimode erbium doped fiber amplifier (RC-MMEDFA) capable of providing almost identical gain among the six mode groups within the C band using either core- or cladding-pumped ...

Raman amplification and pulsed lasing in cladding-pumped germanosilicate fiber
We report for the first time Raman amplification in a cladding-pumped fiber. The double-clad germanosilicate fiber was pumped by a Q-switched Er-Yb co-doped fiber laser at 1570 nm. The power conversion efficiency was up to 36%, with a slope of 64%

Polarization mode dispersion reduction in spun silica holey fibres
We report the fabrication of a spun holey optical fibre. Our experiments show that the complex air/glass transverse structure can be retained when the preform is spun during the fibre drawing process.

Optical waveguide analysis using transmission lines
Optical fibres have been used as a key medium for telecommunication and networking for more than two decades because in principle they offer sufficient transmission capacity, reaching total rates as high as Tbits/s per fibre.

Triangular-profile single-mode fiber
Optics Letters, 1982A low-loss triangular-profile single-mode fiber is reported. The fiber loss at 1.3-1.55microm wavelengths is below 0.4 dB/km, and its zero-chromatic-dispersion wavelength is 1.402 microm.

All-single-mode fiber resonator
Optics Letters, 1982An all-fiber-ring resonator has been constructed using a single strand of single-mode optical fiber and a directional coupler. Derivation of the resonator finesse in terms of fiber and directional coupler parameters is given. A finesse of 80 has been achieved experimentally. Applications of such a fiber-ring resonator are discussed.

By splicing and tapering at the fusion point of one-core single-mode fiber and three- or four-core single-mode fiber, an effective bitapered fiber coupling technique is implemented. Based on the beam propagation method, the bitapered coupling characteristics between the one-core fiber and the multicore single-mode fiber are simulated and analyzed.
