Nonequilibrium Bond Forces in Single-Molecule Junctions [PDF]
Passing a current across two touching C60 molecules imposes a nonequilibrium population of bonding and antibonding molecular orbitals, which changes the equilibrium bond character and strength. A current-induced bond force therefore contributes to the total force at chemical-bond distances. The combination of first-principles calculations with scanning

Control of Unipolar/Ambipolar Transport in Single‐Molecule Transistors through Interface Engineering
To realize single‐molecule field‐effect transistors, a crucial test for evaluating the integrity of single‐molecule electronics into conventional circuit architectures, remains elusive.

Mechanically Tuned Thermopower of Single‐Molecule Junctions
AbstractIn this paper, the tuning of the thermopower with single‐molecule junctions of fullerene (C60), 4,4′‐bipyridine (BPY), and p‐phenylenediamine (PPD) using scanning tunneling microscopy (STM)‐based break junction technique is demonstrated. Single‐molecule junctions are prepared in a nanogap between a Au‐STM tip and a Au(111) electrode.

Constructive Quantum Interference in Single‐Molecule Benzodichalcogenophene Junctions [PDF]
AbstractHeteroatom substitution into the cores of alternant, aromatic hydrocarbons containing only even‐membered rings is attracting increasing interest as a method of tuning their electrical conductance. Here, the effect of heteroatom substitution into molecular cores of non‐alternant hydrocarbons, containing odd‐membered rings, is examined ...

Plasmonic tunnel junctions for single-molecule redox chemistry
Plasmons in sub-nm cavities can enable chemical processes within plasmonic hotspots. Here the authors use surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy to track hot-electron-induced chemical reduction processes in aromatic molecules, thus enabling observation of ...

Experimental Evidence for Quantum Interference and Vibrationally Induced Decoherence in Single-Molecule Junctions [PDF]
We analyze quantum interference and decoherence effects in single-molecule junctions both experimentally and theoretically by means of the mechanically controlled break junction technique and density-functional theory.

ABSTRACT Primary lung carcinomas and bronchial carcinoid tumors (BC) are very rare malignancies in childhood. While typical BC and mucoepidermoid carcinomas are mostly low‐grade, localized tumors with a more favorable prognosis than in adults, necessitating avoidance of overtreatment, adenocarcinomas of the lung are often diagnosed at advanced disease ...

ABSTRACT Secondary hyperparathyroidism (SHPT) is a common complication in patients receiving maintenance dialysis, driven by calcium and phosphate metabolism disturbances. Calcimimetics are central to the management of SHPT by enhancing calcium‐sensing receptor sensitivity and reducing parathyroid hormone secretion.

Mapping the evolution of mitochondrial complex I through structural variation
Respiratory complex I (CI) is crucial for bioenergetic metabolism in many prokaryotes and eukaryotes. It is composed of a conserved set of core subunits and additional accessory subunits that vary depending on the organism. Here, we categorize CI subunits from available structures to map the evolution of CI across eukaryotes. Respiratory complex I (CI)

Tuning the thermal conductance of molecular junctions with interference effects
We present an \emph{ab initio} study of the role of interference effects in the thermal conductance of single-molecule junctions. To be precise, using a first-principles transport method based on density functional theory, we analyze the coherent phonon ...
